Author, poet, dream interpreter, psychotheapist and mother June O'Brien has done it again. In the second book of her trilogy, "The Blue Child Series" she has knocked it out of the park with "The North Road." The series is about three mature Native American sisters who have adventures in time and space and the mystical realms which will keep you on the edge of your seat. "The North Road" is a comtemporary version of the age-old battle between dark and light, and this book is hard to put down. I cannot wait to read the third one, which is as yet unwritten.
A native Oklahoman, June lives near Seattle and is a member of the Nansemond tribe.

Most people take for granted that when they select a wine, the ingredients are going to be pure and natural. However, as most conscious consumers know, this is not the case. There are 200 ingredients on the list of government-approved additives for wine. This renders most consumers to be clueless about what exactly is in their wine and used to produce it. In the world of beekeeping, neonicotinoids have maintained the spotlight as the scientific evidence continues to grow regarding the decline of the worlds bee population. Neonicotinoids are defined by the EPA as a class of insecticides with a common mode of action that affects the central nervous system of insects, causing paralysis and death. All of the neonicotinoids were registered after 1984 and were not subject to reregistration. Some uncertainties have been identified since their initial registration regarding the potential environmental fate and effects of neonicotinoid pesticides, particularly as they relate to pollinators. Data suggests that neonicotinic residues can accumulate in pollen and nectar of treated plants and may represent a potential exposure to pollinators. Adverse effects data as well as beekill incidents have also been reported, highlighting the potential direct and/or indirect effects of neonicotinic pesticides. Therefore, among other refinements to ecological risk assessment during registration review, the Agency will consider potential effects of the neonicotinoids to honeybees and other pollinating insects. Dr. David Goulson, Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Sterling and his team have conducted new research titled “Neonicotinoid pesticide reduces bumble bee colony growth and queen production.” In this special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, host, June Stoyer and special guest co- host, Tom Theobald talk to Dr. David Goulson, Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Sterling to discuss his research.
