Winston County Self Help Cooperative will be interviewing Mississippi Legendary Farmer, Robert Robinson of Brookhaven, MS on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 6pm Central Standard Time. You can listen and/or ask questions by phone at 323-580-5735. Mr. Robinson continues to farm the land which his daddy farmed under the iron fist of “Jim Crow Laws” during the 1930s. The Robinson’s Farm operation consists of vegetables and beef cattle production. Mr. Robinson plants upward of 4 acres of vegetables in the spring and fall using sustainable practices. "We produce a variety of vegetables including greens, tomatoes, squash, peas, cucumbers, green beans and others". Mr. Robinson primarily sells directly from the farm with a lengthy list of regular customers. His wife, Anna manages the finance and marketing of produce to customers. Mr. Robinson said “this work is challenging; however it brings great reward in feeding families throughout Southwest Mississippi”. In 2012, the Robinsons sponsored their first 'Saving Rural America Rally' to promote sustainable farm practices in conjunction with Winston County Self Help Cooperative.

The standard American diet consists of mostly acid forming foods. Fake fats, sugar, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), bleached white flours made into breads and pastry is extremely acid forming. You should focus on eating a diet of 60-80% alkaline foods daily. Real nutrition can be found in a diet high in a wide variety of veggies that are eaten every day, all day! Focus on fresh organic green veggies, fresh smoothies as well as green super foods such as chlorella. Fruits of all types, even citrus fruits that are considered acid, are all alkaline forming. The increased consumption of fruits and vegetables in an alkaline diet may benefit bone health, reduce muscle loss through lack of physical activity as well as reduce cases of other chronic diseases such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes and stroke.
The true benefit of eating an alkaline diet is that it is high in the minerals and phytonutrients needed by your body to grow and maintain itself. An increase in magnesium that may enter the cell is another added benefit of the alkaline diet. This is one of the greatest benefits of eating lots of green leafy vegetables. Readily available magnesium, which is required to activate vitamin D, would result in numerous added benefits in the body. Work a variety of dark leafy greens into every meal over the course of the day. Order some spinach as a side dish, add a garden salad to your lunch, snack on kale chips, make a green veggie juice smoothie or mix up some powdered greens with your early morning juice.
Fasting is beneficial whether you fast partially or fully.
One day fasts on a consisitaent basis will strengthen your spirit over time and give you the ability to discipline yourself for longer fasts.
Three day fasts with just water are a powerful way to see breakthroughs.
Fasts longer than three days should be done by people with more experience in fasting.
Long fasts are not recommended unless there is an emergency or if one is led by the Holy Spirit to do so.
A partial fast can include some food such as vegetables and can be done for long lengths.
Complete fasts consist of water only, and water is important to cleanse the system of toxins that are released through fasting.
The Holy Spirit will reveal to you when you need to fast.
A fasted lifestyle is a powerful lifestyle.
