Dr. Robert L. Weber: The Spirituality of Age

    in Spirituality

Robert L. Weber, Ph.D., the co-author of the new book The Spirituality of Age: A Seeker's Guide to Growing Older, addresses ways to embrace the shadow side of aging, while opening up to spiritual growth.  Co-authored with Carol Orsborn, Ph.D., The Spirituality of Age insightfully explores meaningful personal reflections and 25 key questions, revealing that true growth arises through directly engaging with the fears and challenges aging brings our way.  When we open up to the possibilities of feeling energized as we age, we can expand more freely into our authentic selves and discover the spiritual opportunities of growing older.

Robert (Bob) is a former Jesuit and an assistant professor of psychology, part-time, at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as a faculty member of Massachusetts General Hospital's Department of Psychiatry.  He is the 2014 recipient of the American Society on Aging’s FORSA Award (Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging) recognizing his leadership, locally and nationally, in exploring the role of spirituality and religion in the aging services field.  Bob has earned many honors and has held several prominent leadership roles throughout his academic and professional career.  He has a private psychological practice in Cambridge, MA.

The Spirituality of Age with: Robert L. Weber and Carol Orsborn

    in Spirituality

A compassionate guide for transforming aging into spiritual growth

    • Engage with 25 key questions guiding you to mine previously untapped veins of inspiration and courage

    • Find a constructive role for regret and fear and embrace the freedom to become more fully yourself

    • Draw from both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions and the latest research in psychological and religious theory to cultivate your spiritual potential

As we enter the years beyond midlife, our quest for an approach to aging takes on added urgency and becomes even more relevant in our daily lives. Empowering a new generation of seekers to view aging as a spiritual path, authors Robert Weber and Carol Orsborn reveal that it is by engaging with the difficult questions about loss, meaning, and mortality--questions we can no longer put off or ignore--that we continue to grow.  In fact, the realization of our full spiritual potential comes about not by avoiding the challenges aging brings our way but by working through them.

"Officer Byrd" Of The #1 Syndicated Television Show JUDGE JUDY

    in Entertainment

The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview "Officer Byrd" Of The #1 Syndicated Television Show JUDGE JUDY.

Petri Hawkins Byrd, otherwise known as ‘Officer Byrd’ from the TV court show, Judge Judy, was born Petri Adonis Byrd in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York. (He changed the ‘Adonis’ to his mother’s maiden name, ‘Hawkins’ because “I didn’t want people to think I made it up.”).

Byrd - as he’s known to friends and fans alike-, graduated from Eastern District High School, in Brooklyn and attended Hostos Community College,  in the Bronx. In 1986, after being transferred from Brooklyn Family Court to Manhattan Family Court, Byrd met his future TV boss, Judge Judith Sheindlin. In 1989, Byrd received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay College. (“Some folks graduated ‘magna cum laude’. I graduated ‘Thank you, Lordy”’! )

In 1990, Byrd and his family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area., where he worked for the U.S. Marshal Service.

It was in 1995, while working as a campus supervisor at a local high school that he received a call from Judge Judy, asking whether he would be interested reuniting with her to do a TV court show. The rest, as they say, is history. Judge Judy is currently in its seventeenth season and shows no signs of slowing down.
