A Date With Judy - "Going to a Sinatra Movie" on OTR. Initially served as replacement for Bob Hope's show, A Date with Judy was teenage sitcom that aired on NBC and ABC from 1941 to 1950. The story was about the life of teenager named Judy Foster, played by actresses Ann Gillis (1941), Dennie Ellis (1942), and Louis Erickson (1943-1950). The show also had different sponsors at different periods, which include Bristol Myers, Tums, Ford Motors, and Revere Cameras. At first, the show was aired every summer, from June to September. However, since the audience, particularly the teens, could very much relate to Judy's problems at school, with her parents, and love life, the show grew very popular. As a result, in 1944, it started to be heard all-year round, and lasted for seven more years, with the final episode broadcast on May 25, 1950. A Date with Judy was also adapted for the big screen on 1948 starring Jane Powell for the lead role, along with Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Stack, Carmen Miranda, and Wallace Beery as her co-stars. A comic book adaptation was also released by the National Periodical Publications. Before television, families would gather around the radio every night and imagine with their eyes. Some of the biggest stars of the screen were featured on these popular radio shows. You will be amazed at how interesting radio can be and how your imagination can run wild. Here, you will find well known celebrities such as Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Jack Benny, and more… . Hosted by Dr. Leigh-Davis. www.DrLeigh-Davis.com or www.IMDb.me/DrLeigh-Davis. Judy Kang is globally recognized for her individuality and unique career as a violinist and established soloist and chamber musician in the classical world as well as in the world of pop, indie, jazz, and hip hop music. To attempt to relegate Ms. Kang to a conventional mold would be to defy an artist born with a multi-dimensional gift. Her constant evolving artistry continues to establish her as an iconoclast and pioneer of twenty-first century violinists embodying the art of production, visuals, arrangement, composition, and teaching.
Born and raised in Canada to a single mother, Ms. Kang’s unusual gift for music was recognized immediately when she picked up the violin at the age of four. Seemingly destined to become a violinist, Judy instantly learned and memorized a piece at her first lesson. In just her first year of playing, she was performing solo recitals and winning competitions. By age six years, Ms. Kang made her solo debut with an orchestra and at age ten, she burst onto the classical music scene in a nationally acclaimed televised performance as a soloist with the National Arts Center Orchestra.
Humbled and thankful to have received numerous and continuous support through scholarships and grants from numerous foundations, Ms. Kang won the 'Sylva Gelber' prize given to the most talented musician under 30.
Presently, Ms. Kang continues to defy constraints in her endeavor to achieve musical transcendence, evident in the release of her self-titled album on March 5, 2013; all of which was written, produced and recorded by her.
Dubbed by critics as "Grimes with a Stradivarius," the record has already received praise and accolades from the press and artists alike who have characterized it as "diverse, unbelievably beautiful, and eclectic."
