Rap Music is truely an American minority creation of subcultural roots. This musical artform has been around for over 30 years in the United States.
In fact, one can trace the history of rap back to West African professional singers/storytellers known as Griots.
Unfortunately, rap music is not percieved by many Americans as an art form, but as a fad which they thought would soon fade away...
One cannot study American Rap Music without what is known as the "Hip-Hop" culture.
Hip-Hop culture was also comprised of DJ'ing, Breakdancing, Graffiti, MC'ing, Beatboxing, Street Fashion, Street Language, Street Knowledge & Street Entrepreneurialism!!!
Research seems to point back to the Bronx in New York City as the origin for the hip-hop culture.
Hip-Hop is the expression of creative intelligence.
It is also the transformation of subjects and objects to describe your consciousness!!

Shannon McMahon got her first guitar at the age of nine, and wrote her first song when she was ten years old. She started performing publicly when she was 12, at church, coffeehouses and other functions.
In 1996, Shannon recorded her debut CD, Some of My Years, an independent release produced by Eric Garrison at China Moon Studios. The CD features 12 original songs in a contemporary folk style with a hint of country flavor. Shannon’s rich vocals are reminiscent of Joan Baez and Natalie Merchant.
Since 2008, Shannon has been performing daily for worldwide audiences in Second Life an online virtual world that offers a place to explore, socialize and participate in a host of activities, including live music. In May 2009, Shannon’s song “The Test,” was the winning song in a songwriting contest for Amnesty International. A recording of “The Test” will also appear on a benefit CD featuring New Haven, CT area musicians.

Tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio" we're having our first of many "Music Mania Monday", which is a show dedicated to the talented up & coming Artists, Musicians, DJ's & Producers who are on their grind.
Joining us on the second half of the show, we have a talented, skilled, & unique emcee by the name of "J-Heat." After hearing some of J-Heat's music, it was only right to reach out to him for a guest appearance on "It's Real Talk Radio". As our fans and followers know, we support good music and talented indie artists. J-Heat has an unorthodox style that separates him from most rappers who tend to follow the rhythm of the track, whereas J-Heat makes his own rhythm on a track while still getting his message across and giving the hip hop heads dope rhymes and wordplay. It's a pleasure to have an emcee of his caliber come onto the show and discuss his movement.
Tonight isn't about us, it's about music appreciation and the up & coming talent. This is what it's all about: Music Mania Monday on "It's Real Talk Radio", the first of many, so get used to it. Anyone interested in being a guest, shoot us an email on ItsRealTalkRadio@yahoo.com. Our Social Medias will be listed below and you can contact us there as well.
