Yesterday's broadcast, "Behold I Give You Power", a reading of John G. Lake's sermon by that title, included a section that addressed specifically how the words, "if it be Thy will" got included in prayers for the sick.
This is one of the clearest explanations of how this error got started that I have ever heard.
I want to use this focused broadcast to re-cover Dr. Lake's statements in order to bring them more fully to your attention.
Please join me. You will NEVER include those words in requesting healing for yourself or in prayer for another person again.
"The Language of the spirit....the spirit of man has a voice.
The action of God in your spirit that begins with the pouring forth of the Spirit-given language in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, causes your spirit to speak by its voice. There is a language common to the spirit of man. It is not any of the languages of the earth. It is a language of the spirit of man. And, oh, what a joy it was when that pent-up, bursting, struggling spirit of yours found it's voice and spake in tongues".
This sermon by Dr. Lake is the most outstanding one I have ever heard on the topic of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Dr. Lake approaches it with his usual 'scientific' approach to the things of the Spirit.
Pray for the eyes of your understanding to open, and your spirit to receive the wonderful infusion of Life that comes your way in this message.

"One of the truest things in all my life, in my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, has been to feel that He was capable of knowing my sorrows, and yours. And that in the truest sense He thereby became our comrade.
There is a union between the Christ and the Christian that is so deep, so pure, so sweet, so real, that the very conditions of the human spirit are transmitted to His, and the conditions of Christ's Spirit are transmitted to ours. It is because of the continuous inflow of the Spirit of Christ in our heart that we appreciate or realize His power and triumph.
It lifts man above his surroundings and causes him to triumph anywhere and everywhere".
.....John G. Lake, "Christian Communion".
Rich words. Tune in to hear the entire Pt. 2 of this wonderful sermon.
Dr. Lake is sharing one general thought in this sermon: The presence of Christ.
"One of the things the Christian world does not get hold of with a STRONG GRIP is the fact of His Presence with us NOW. It would naturally seem as if a separation had occurred because of His Return to Glory, but NO SUCH SEPARATION is contemplated on the part of Christ. Christ promises His omnipotent presence with us always.
Jesus is just as close to the Christian soul as He was to Paul. There is a beautiful verse that expresses that so sweetly, 'Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet'.
Jesus is The Anointed One. His Presence is The Anointing with you. Because of life, you aren't always aware of The Anointing. Church services and Gospel meetings help you to 'tune in' to what is there all the time.
Dr. Lake gives some good sound instruction in the 'how to's' of cultivating your awareness of the Anointing even without being in a Gospel service.
Kenneth E Hagin said: "I am more aware of God's Presence than I am of my own wife lying next to me in bed...."
Something there to think about!
Jesus functioned as a Man among men....with the same temptations, tests and trials. He met every challenge of the soul that you have to met. But Jesus willed, in those challenges to do the will of God and to know the will of God in His every response.
Two phases to entering the will of God: the surrender of your will to do the Will of God; recognize yourself as God's son and man's servant.
He provided salvation for the spirit/soul/body. If you are fascinated by the life of John G. Lake and/or want to live the kind of supernatural life that he lived, you must take yourself out of the hands of the world, and put yourself totally over into the Hands of God for YOUR spirit/soul/body.
Dr. Lake has observed many Christians who trust God for spiritual salvation, but then they turn to the world for their soul and body. He is very directly challenging us to come up higher.
"The Extent of Jesus' Dedication"
In this sermon, Dr. Lake looks at the life of Jesus from the standpoint that "He was a man just like other men. He met every challenge of the soul, just as you and I have to meet it. But Jesus willed to do God's Will and to know God's Will."
How to enter the will of God - two phases.
Jesus first dedicates Himself.
The extent of Jesus' dedication.
The result of His Dedication.
"Most folks mean their consecration on the day they are baptized, and then forget it the first time that the devil appears, or they get a pain in the stomach. It was a forever business with the Lord Jesus. Get that forever thing into YOUR soul and spirit. There never was a time in history when the world needed a demonstration that the Lord could keep people forever, under every condition, as much as it does today."
"In Him was life; and the life was the light of men", (John 1:4).
There is a difference between Christianity and philosophy. (I presume some folks are inquiring why it is that there is always that keynote in my addresses.)
God gave me the privilege of living in the heart of philosophic South Africa where we have one million five hundred thousand who are ministered to by Buddhist, Confucianist and Brahman riests. Every imaginable cult has its representatives there. I was amazed to discover that the whites were gradually assimilating the philosophy of the east, just as we Westerners are assimilating the philosophy of the East and have been doing so for a long time. (Aren't we seeing the same thing today? AW)
The difference between philosophy and religion, particularly the religion of Jesus Christ, is in the words I quoted from the Scripture: "In him was life; and the life was the light of men."
Philosophy is light.
But it is not a LIFE GIVER......
These are Dr. Lake's opening statements. In today's broadcast, we will continue with the reading of this LIFE REVEALING MESSAGE.
In this section, Dr. Lake goes into the scientific process of digestion in the human body. Then he draws parallels between that and the way the spirit, soul and body 'absorb' the power of God. It has made me curious to look up the natural digestion process and see what man has learned about it since the time of Lake.
"In the process of digestion, it is something like this. The food we eat is reduced to vegetable lymph before it is absorbed by the body. But no scientist in the world has ever been able to satisfactorily explain what it is that changes the lymph and makes it LIFE. Something happens when it is in the body that changes it to life.
I want to tell you what grew up in my soul, and how I proved the fact. I could feel sometimes in the attitude of prayer just as you have felt hundreds of times, the impulse of the Spirit moving down through your brain and your person to the ends of your fingers...just little impulses of God presence in your life. And I have said, If there was an instrument powerful enough, I believe men could see the action of the brain cells and see what took place.
Here is the secret of digestion."
Today, Part 2 of this wonderful sermon revealing the 'spiritual mechanics' behind the operations of God's Spirit.
First today: reviewing Dr. Lake's statements about the comparison between human digestion and assimilation of God's Spirit by your spirit.
Then the experiment he had done upon the cortex cells of his brain and the results. The great dynamo of prayer and then some wonderful testimonies from which we can learn to 'grow up in God'.
I focus on the 'chair of pneumatology' and this program includes the statement of Dr. Lake where my interest in such a thing began.
"One of these days there is going to be a new chair (in the great schools of the land). It will be a chair of pneumatology....the science of spirit, by which men will undertake to discover the laws of God. And by the grace of God, men shall know that God is alive, and the living Spirit of God is no dearm."
There is the 'fire of God' in Dr. Lake's words today, and much to learn from them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight into the 'science of healing'.
"And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offense of the cross ceased." (Galatians 5:11)
The early ministers and preachers were declaring that the Cross was the very CENTER of religion, the SECRET of government, and the INSPIRATION of culture. You and I are called to represent that Cross in word and life, and if we fail to do it, we are failing in loyalty to our Lord and Master.
Men are afraid of God because of wrong concepts. Let a man meet God in Jesus and he will love God.
Old things are passed away. That is the power of the cross. All things are become new. That is the power of being raised in newness of life in Him, (Romans 6:4).
......John G. Lake
Triune salvation: "I pray God your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameles unto the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you who also will do it," (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).
These are Dr. Lake's foundational texts for this sermon, given in London and Washington, D.C.
Join me for the conclusion of this tremendous message.
A strong man's gospel!
Dr. Lake's semon is taken from Luke 4:18 where he lists the 'platform of Jesus', i.e. think of a political party and their 'platform' stating their beliefs and goals.
This verse states Jesus' belief about his goals. His 'political party's agenda' if you would.
1. Preach the Gospel to the poor.
2. Heal the brokenhearted.
3. Preach deliverance to the captives.
4.Recovering of sight to the blind.
5. Set at liberty them that are bruised.
6. Preach the acceptable year of the Lord, or the 'year of the Lord's acceptnce'.
People become members of a political party because they believe the platform of that party. As Christians - Christ's ones, we can adopt these six planks as our goals also. These goals are a good guideline and protection from error.
Keep it simple, saints.
Practice these six planks that make up Jesus' platform and you can't get into error and will bear much fruit for the Kingdom.
