In the ten years that yours truly has been in Baltimore (this time around!), there are some significant talents that stand out. And always will. Some of the musicianship has been more than stellar. Let's call it haunting. And that is the case with the voice of Kristin Callahan.
Singing since she could speak, the vocal ability that Kristin has is worn like a second skin. She's comfortable singing - and it doesn't matter what genre. Though her golden throat lends itself naturally to Jazz and the Great American Songbook. And one wonders what's in Kristin's future - because if this is the beginning of her career and she's so good NOW - have mercy - what the heck else should we expect?!
Encouraged by both church and school early on, our Maryland Girl found herself in Washington, D.C. Under the tutelage of respected pianist and educator, Vince Evans. Vince was able to steer Kristin in a direction that felt both comfortable and challenging. And that challenge is something that she relishes. Her first project dropped in 2009, "A New Love." Last year, we heard the evolving bliss of Kristin with "One Magic Day." Some of the best in Baltimore and D.C. joined her on these 14 songs. Including Warren Wolf on vibraphone - and Vince Evans (of course!) on piano :)
Kristin's got an amazing opportunity to shine on 12/21/14. She's at the Chesapeake Arts Center - the same place where we last saw Jeffrey Osborne. She'll dip into both of her albums, some holiday tunes (no doubt!), and possibly give us a sneak preview of her forthcoming CD - which takes her into a new direction. 2015 should be QUITE interesting for our guest!
What a pleasure to share Kristin with you again - we had a lot of fun the first time that she visited! 12/16 at 3 p.m. Eastern - join us :)

I'm pleased to welcome Paranormal Romance Author, Coreene Callahan to the show on Thursday, October 9th at 6pm EST. She's right at home with romance on the razor's edge!
As the only girl on all guys hockey teams from age six through her college years, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys and loves to write about them. Call it kismet. Call it payback after years of locker room talk and ice rink antics, but whatever you call it, the action better be heart stopping, the magic electric, and the story wicked, good fun.
Knight Avenged: Circle of Seven, Book 2
Alone in a world on the brink of war...two unlikely allies will discover a love greater than time.
Exiled from her home, powerful oracle Cosmina Cordei holds the key to uniting those protecting mankind from evil. But just as she makes her way into the holy city to perform an ancient rite, the enemy closes in for the kill.
Drawn by a destiny he won't accept, elite assassin Henrik Lazar detests the mystical curse handed down by his mother. But when the sorcery in his blood is activated and past pain comes back to haunt him, his new abilities come into play and he must learn to control them.
Rescued by Henrik in the heat of battle, Cosmina must decide whether to trust the assassin who loathes the goddess she serves or face certain death on her own. Forced into an untenable position, Henrik is left with a terrible choice - protect the magical Order he despises, or deny destiny and lose the woman he loves forever.

Black Mexican President Ended Slavery!

Texas President Sam Houston lamented that " two valuable negro boys for which I had paid in cash $2100 previous to my visit to Nashville, ran away last spring to Mexico. Thus you can see I am in bad luck."
Just two and a half months after Mexico abolished slavery, officials were uneasy about the numbers of new European Americans settling within Mexico and they attempted to curb the number of newcomers.
In 1830, Mexico decreed that foreigners could not cross the border without obtaining a passport issued by Mexican agents.Texans did not respect the MEXICAN border in their pursuits of Freed Blacks. In 1855, Captain James Callahan of the Texas Rangers entered Mexico in an attempt to recapture self-emancipated Africans.
