Radiant, bold, crisp toned and just darling....the best way I can find to describe Jenn Dekorah Lee. Milwaukee local musician she is, and in my mind, resonates a sound similar to the likes of Colbie Callet. She is a composer, guitar player, a songstress and can you believe a Marilyn Monroe singing telegram gal...now that screams a dream come true for this host! Joining us will be a few of her bandmates to discuss the future of the band as well as their own musical aspirations. Come experience the phenomonen that is Dekorah!
Adorning yourself to enhance beauty, pledge allegiance to a group, express your identity, or show off status has been a part of the human experience for as long as there’s been humans. Body adornments are popular in various forms in virtually every corner of the world. Examples include tattooing, piercing, branding, or scarification. These days body piercing is everywhere, especially among young people who often get several parts of their bodies pierced as an affirmation of their individuality, as a means of sexual gratification or stimulation, to reclaim their bodies from physical or emotional trauma, or as an adornment. It’s common to see pierced noses, navel, lips, and tongues. And there are the pierced places you don’t see such as nipples and other areas further south. I had my ears pierced when I was in 9 grade and that was only after considerable pleading. How times have changed! One of the most popular and ancient forms of body adornment, other than jewelry, originated with ancient and tribal cultures before spreading into European society -- the ancient practice of tattooing. Many native or tribal populations had traditions of facial tattoos. Tattooing was also very popular among the Polynesian Islanders. The concept of decorating oneself with body art was first brought to Europe by sailors who had learned of the practice while traveling through Polynesia. Tattoos are acceptable among mainstream Americans, and are often done in areas that can be covered up while at work. The times they are a-changing, and few people are shocked by tattoos and piercings as body adornment. Life Coach Jenn A. Nocera and I will give our two cents on this subject and discuss other adornments like the vajazzler. Really. Google it. After the interview, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for additional information.
