Whether it was dressing well, entertaining with style, or being a savvy traveler, the women in the Jane Austen novels carried these challenges off with aplomb and with elegance. Kathleen and Susan demonstrate that large amounts of money are not needed to live well, and that a good life can be achieved on modest means and careful money management. After all, as Kathleen and Susan point out, having it all and being happy didn't mean only wealth to Jane Austen.

This Podcast: Preparing to Travel Part 2 Caregiving is one of the greatest challenges and opportunities most of us experience in a lifetime.
Each week Paula Falk moderates a support group of caregivers dealing with the challenges of Alzheimer's. She's helped to provide guidance and a constant reminder to each member they're not alone, that it's okay to feel frustrated, sad, angry, but to not lose sight of their own health and mental wellness.
Jane Johnson is back this episode with Part 2 of tips to help caregivers through the challenges of travel. Jane is a volunteer facilitator for the caregivers support group and works closely with Paula. She has a Masters Degree in social work and from her own personal experience with her husband's Alzheimer's understands the importance of caregivers developing a strong coping mechanism.
Many members of this support group have become good friends and provide a support network. Now, we want to share what we've learned in a series of short podcasts, each one about a tip to help you stay focused on your own health and well-being, as well as the loved one you're caring for.

Hirshfield is the author of seven collections of poetry and a book of essays, and co-editor and co-translator of four books. Her work, which is frequently anthologized in places such as The Best Spiritual Writing, The Best American Poetry, and The Pushcart Prize Anthology, deals with subjects that range "from the metaphysical and passionate to the political, ecological, and scientific to subtle unfoldings of daily life and experience.” Her honors include The Poetry Center Book Award; the Donald Hall-Jane Kenyon Prize in American Poetry; fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Academy of American Poets; Columbia University’s Translation Center Award; and the Commonwealth Club’s California Book Award and the Northern California Book Reviewers Award. In fall 2004, she was awarded the 70th Academy Fellowship for distinguished poetic achievement by The Academy of American Poets, an honor formerly held by such poets as Robert Frost, Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams, and Elizabeth Bishop. In 2012, she was elected a Chancellor of the Academy.
The Christian Science Monitor calls Hirshfield’s poems, “An evocative mix of control and wildness, stunning beauty and unseen forces.” The Washington Post says they are, “Poems that brilliantly portray even mundane experiences as if they were nothing short of revelation.”
