There is nothing hotter than the UFC right now. Grown men and women fighting until one is knocked out or give up. For decades, boxing has been in the spotlight, and now, Mixed Martial Arts combines all facets of fighting into one.
The numbers of younger men and women training in MMA is growing.
With the UFC once again pushing for legalization of their sport in the state of New York, and the White House following through after up on an interesting and successful summit on concussion and youth sports, the issue has never been more heatedly discussed.
Best-selling author, MMA expert and founder of Scientific Wrestling Jake Shannon has been training potential MMA stars with his own breed of Catch-As-Catch-Can wrestling for years, and has a lot to say on the issue.

** About Shannon **
For a flower to grow and blossom, it has to go thru a lot of dirt. It also needs a lot of care and nuturing. This analogy reminds me of all the tough as well as rewarding experiences I have had in life. Your life can change in a split second! I suffered severe traumatic brain injury on November 17, 1984 at the age of fifteen. The car accident left me in a deep coma for two months. My rehabilitation was learning to walk, talk, chew, swallow, and most importantly, to SMILE!!! The doctor's prognosis was not good, but my true grit determination proved them all wrong. With my Mother's "Never Give Up" attitude, she instilled in me that anything is possible. Abraham Lincoln once said, "Most folks are about as happy as
they make up their minds to be." This has become my philosophy on life.
Jake is a man who wears many hats. He is not only the founder of ScientificWrestling.com, but he is also a hypnotist, and author! Jake was also the right hand man of the late great Billy Robinson, going across the United States doing seminars teaching students the art of catch as catch can wrestling which dates back to 1870. We will talk about all that and so much more when Mr. Shannon joins us next week on Pipebomb Radio! This is the definition of a cant miss show!
Get ready for the most fun you'll have anywhere during the next hour of your life!

Have you just received your results and have no idea how to analyze them? What do you know about Identical by Descent (IBD) and Identical by State( IBS)? Have you lowered the threshold on your DNA matches and discovered that you match everyone? Should you do this and is it a valid indicator for identifying matches?
Shannon Christmas will discuss how DNA analysis, when used in concert with traditional genealogical research methods, can help family historians overcome challenges unique to genealogy research. He will also answer your burning questions concerning the various DNA test.
Shannon Christmas is an experienced genealogist specializing in genetic, colonial American, and African-American genealogy in Virginia and the Carolinas. He serves as a 23andMe Ancestry Ambassador, administrator of The Captain Thomas Graves of Jamestown Autosomal DNA Project, co-administrator of The Hemings-Jefferson-Wayles-Eppes Autosomal DNA Project, and blogger of Through The Trees, “a didactic guide to new tools and technologies for genealogy” (http://throughthetreesblog.tumblr.com/). Shannon has a special interest in harnessing the power of autosomal DNA to verify and extend pedigrees, assess the veracity of oral history, and reconstruct ancestral genomes. A trained urban planning and real estate consultant, Shannon has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University and a Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This week, my guest is the young but oh so inspiring author, Jake Ducey. Join me as I ask him what he means by living 'even in doubt' and what matters to him on his journey, including details of his upcoming Even In Doubt Tour of Schools around the U.S! Amazing stuff!
In college on a basketball scholarship and headed for a sports career, at 19 Jake Ducey, a kid from a good Southern California family, seemed to have it all. But he didn't. Something was missing, and the emptiness had led him to a life fueled by alcohol and drugs. Following his heart, Jake left it all behind and, with his meager savings, traveled the world. What he ended up finding was that what he was looking for was inside him all the time, that our destiny is reached only if we look inside of ourselves first.
Upon return from his spiritual adventure, Jake raised the funds to build a school and home in San Marcos, near Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, to support orphans who are taken care of by a Quiché Maya Shaman. Now 23, Jake hit the Amazon Bestselling list with his first book, Into the Wind, which is about his travels.
His new book is out with Penguin/Random House in January 2015 and he speaks throughout the country on consciously and responsibly creating our lives.

She is an outstanding Facilitator and coach for a variety of clients. Shannon is recognized for her energetic style and clear communication. Shannon and her team challenges individuals and organizations to look beyond the obvious and identify all barriers as well as all possibilities to achieve success.
Shannon Celebi writes speculative fiction in all its weird and wonderful forms. Residing in Ashland, Oregon with her husband, her son, two neurotic cats, and a dilapidated laptop named Persephone, Shannon has two collections of short stories, Small Town Ghosts, and Small Town Demons, available on Amazon at http://amzn.to/19lodTU.
Shannon spends every waking hour at her computer, but if she gets a brief moment of respite you can usually find her curled up on the sofa with a kick-ass book and a steaming mug of Joe (Sumatra from Starbucks is her favorite). Shannon also enjoys windsurfing (not), hang-gliding (super not) and long walks on the beach (maybe).
Shannon has far too many favorite books to list in this little space, but if she had to pick three, she'd probably say, "This Body by Laurel Doud, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Heart Shaped Box' by Joe Hill." Of course, she couldn't pick just three, so she'd also name, The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, The Shining by Stephen King, and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.
