Check out tomorrow's interview with Isaiah Washington hosted by Ms. Lawrence the founder of Exposure Magazine and Celebrity Publicist
By Isaiah Washington
Actor and activist Isaiah Washington writes about the Baltimore uprising, his film ‘Blackbird,’ and the issues he finds most troubling with society’s stance on race.
The world associates the word black with bad.
The synonym for white is “good,” while the synonym for black is “bad.”
That is why I say I’m done being black. I’m African American. I have a proud heritage and proud ancestry—not unlike Chinese, Irish, El Salvadorian, English—and that’s not getting promoted. It hurts.
At first look, you may not see the connection between the three pieces of content I want to share with you below: an interview about the Baltimore uprising and Black Lives Matter, the marketing campaign behind my pro-LGBT film Blackbird, and a masterfully crafted op-ed by a black lesbian by the name of Danielle Moodie-Mills.

Lisa Hodges is the quiet, reserved first lady of the fast growing Pilgrim Baptist Church; and unbeknown to those around her, her quietness is a direct reflection of her discontent life. Charles, her husband, has his focus on climbing the ministerial ladder--and the many women standing in line to fulfill his every need and desire--that he fails to acknowledge his wife's growing frustration. Lisa, the mother of three, has gotten lost in the lives of her children--and in the role of being a first lady--and has long ago given up on obtaining any happiness or success of her own. Believing that her only joy came from her weekly meetings with her other first lady friends, the very sexy and talented Alex Mitchell arrives at her church, causing Lisa to feel her only happiness came in a brown-eyed, caramel-skinned, muscled, 6-foot frame. The two soon begin a sexy, whirlwind affair that results in a forbidden, shared love and an unwanted pregnancy. On the other hand, with secrets of his own, Alex threatens to expose them all, one secret at a time. Will Lisa be able to deny her love for Alex and fix the mess she's gotten herself into? Or will her actions bring down her husband, the church, and her family?

"Number one: Put God first," he said. "Put God first in everything you do."
"Everything you think you see in me, everything I’ve accomplished, everything you think I have – and I have a few things," said Washington. "Everything that I have is by the grace of God. Understand that. It’s a gift."
In leading up to those remarks, the star of such films as Malcolm X, Training Day, Glory, The Book of Eli, and The Equalizer, said, “When I was young and started really making it as an actor, I came and talked to my mother and said, ‘Mom, did you think this was going to happen? I’d be so big and I’ll be able to take care of everybody and I can do this and I can do that.’"
"She said, ‘Boy, stop it right there, stop it right there, stop it right there!" he continued. "She said, ‘If you only knew how many people been praying for you.’ How many prayer groups she put together, how many prayer talks she gave, how many times she splashed me with holy water to save my sorry behind."
Towards the end of his speech, Washington repeated some of the comments he has made over the years about reliance on God. He reminded that crowd that no matter how much you attain in material goods, "you will never see a U-Haul behind a hearse."
He also told the graduates of the small, private, historically black college in New Orleans, "I pray that you put your slippers under your bed tonight, so that when you wake up in the morning you have to get on your knees to reach them."
“And while you’re down there, say thank you," he said. "Thank you for grace, thank you for mercy, thank you for understanding, thank you for wisdom, thank you for parent...
Mel Skahan lives in Toppenish Washington and is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Mel worked for the United States Forest Service from 1988 – 1995 in the Wind River and Mt. Adams Ranger Districts. He has also worked security in the past and currently works for the Yakama Nation Forestry. He has not always been a believer. He was raised in the woods by his great, great, grandfather, who would keep all of the kids in the woods all summer at his camp in a closed area of the Yakama Reservation. It was there that Mel heard stories of Bigfoot. Mel worked in Bigfoot country in while working for the Forest Service. Back during those days, Mel laughed at the stories. He never really believed the stories, until he got to thinking about things from the past. When he started working for the Yakama Nation, he started seeing signs of the creature; tracks, hair, smell, and even sightings. He had visuals starting 9 years ago. He went on expeditions with BFRO when he was a member. He has been on other private expeditions with close friends he has made while on outings. Mel now does all of the bigfoot reports on the Yakama Reservation; there are only 3 individuals that listen to reports. With every new encounter, Mel’s way of reporting and researching change.
In this week lesson, Isaiah deals with the tragic nature of sin and the need for a Redeemer. Sin ties the hand of an Almighty God, it is quite distressing He turns and hides his face from the sinner. Isaiah 59 message is God’s search for a methodology to redeem him; only until a body was fashion for the Son did he have a worthy Redeemer.
