Choosing the Perfect Invitations for Your Big Day!
Coming from a theatrical design background and a successful career in New York, I decided to indulge in my love for all things paper and my obsession for beautiful typography and become a graphic designer. The first time I accompanied a friend to select her wedding invitations I was amazed to find how difficult it was to find exactly what she was looking for. Nothing was just as she imagined and there seemed to be too many compromises. It didn’t take long to decide to design them ourselves. After helping her with all the details of her wedding, I was hooked.
I found the wedding invitations to be a wonderful contrast to the corporate graphic design and branding that comprised most of my business. I loved finding luxurious papers and using different printing techniques to make every invitation truly special. It was wonderful to be part of the process and to work with people on such a special event in their lives. Many of the brides and grooms we have worked with have become treasured friends.
Over the years, the business has grown. We moved from our tiny one room studio to our trendy Lincoln Park boutique, full of gifts and wonderful invitations from all the talented designers I have admired for years. As jobs go, it doesn’t get much better than this!

World Kitchen Presents Wedding Day Radio: Steve Paster
Before the dress or caterer or cake or even preacher is booked, your guests have got to know to save the date for your wedding. So ordering invites is one of the first things couples need to do after getting engaged. But not all stationers are the same, says Steve Paster of Alpine Creative Group. “Most invitation boutiques are brokers. You walk in and look at books, and you work with a graphic designer. Then they turn around and send out the order to their vendors,” he tells Wedding Planning Radio host Jeannie Uyanik. “But in my company, we’re the broker and manufacturer under one roof, so our timelines are a bit quicker than most people would be accustomed to. There are some invites we can manufacture in one week. Then there are very complex invitations that might involve mounting, layering, dye-cutting, laser cutting—those generally take about four weeks.”
