When Francis Kong was five years old, his father sat him down and told him he had two choices in life - he could be a physician or he could be a failure.
At the end of his second year at the Royal College of Surgeons, one of his professors told him that he should go and have fun on his spring break because once he was back, it would be heads down with no time off for many years. So, together with a couple of medical school buddies, he boarded a 747 to Barcelona, Spain for what he hoped would be two weeks of fun in the sun. As they attempted to land at the Barcelona airport, the plane experienced what Francis thought was turbulence – followed by a failed attempt to land. Shortly after that the intercom came on and the pilot made an announcement – but it was in Spanish. The only thing word he could understand was one that was being repeated over and over: “Emergencia, emergencia.” In those last few seconds, Francis saw in his mind’s eye, his mom, his dad, his sisters and the faces of all of his mentors.
“I told them I loved them very, very much. I thanked them for all of the gifts they had given me in my life. And I said, ‘goodbye’ – I am so sorry I had to go now.”
Francis survived his near-death experience but life for him would never be the same. He formed Edge Interns in College and learned how to mentor young people on a large scale. Then in 2012, he founded Edge Interns to help young people figure out what their dreams are and help them to make them come true as early as possible. There were 5 interns in Edge’s first year, now there are more than 330 from very prestigious institutions around the country.

Lisa Lapides Sawicki joins us ON THE DEAN'S LIST.
Lisa Lapides Sawicki has over 30 years of publicity and consulting experience. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in communications and a minor in publicity from Boston University. With this knowledge under her belt, she dove into the industry with a vengeance. Lisa worked with Roone Arledge of ABC News and Sports in New York, Florine Mark with Weight Watchers, and Tony Franco at Franco Public Relations. After gaining such valuable experience, Lisa knew that she had what it took to make her mark in the field. In 1986, she built her brand and took things to the next level. She has owned and operated her own publicity company (formerly known as Lapides Publicity Giragosian) ever since.
As things progressed, Lisa became a well-known publicist in Michigan, and along with her husband, David Sawicki, decided to start giving back. In 2001, Lisa became co-creator of Youth Under Construction – an anti-bullying musical program teaching youth skills. Her activity in the community lead to several awards and speaking engagements. Later that year, she received the Oakland County Commission Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship in the Community, and Outstanding Work with Youth and PR Interns. In 2009, Lisa received the Cranbrook/Kingswood Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievements as a Small Business Entrepreneur and Dedication for Work with Youth. This week on Littany we are back with soap chat. We will be covering both Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful and encourage fans to call-in with their thoughts on either show!
On Days, we saw a lot go down with Abby, EJ and Sami these past few weeks. What are your feelings on Abby not being pregnant? Do you think Stefano tampered with the results? Jordan also took a huge chance and decided to stay in Salem. With the arrival of her brother, we are curious what her secret is and how it will impact her relationship with Rafe. We will also be discussing the disaster that was the Dannifer Dinner Party, Nicole and Eric, Brady and Theresa and more.
On BB, we finally saw Ridge and Katie reunite and Brooke's reaction which wasn't very pretty. With Brooke hurt and angry...how far will she go? Also, Aly also continues to unravel and scare everyone with her hatred of all things Wyatt. Do you think Wyatt is a great fit for Hope or do you think he is overly ambitious to get his name out there?
All fans and fanbases are welcome to join us. If you listen live, join our chat (link posted on Twitter prior to the show) or listen after when the show is archived. We have a lot to discuss and can't wait to soap chat!
So how does an Independent Label go about obtaining information on how they can get Artist exposure on College Radio Stations? With so many stations across the country, this could get rather tedious. Luckily, there is a list of College Radio stations that provides the phone number, email address, point of contact, and the genre(s) that the station plays. But that is only half of the job. Someone still needs to contact these radio stations and find out just what information is needed to air Artists on their stations.
Well WELCOME ABOARD to Collge Radio Intern *MJ_Kidd*!!
This young lady is a hard working, dedicated, enthusiastic, Honor Roll student with a very uncanny ear for music. A natural whiz when it comes to Science, and a new found love for math, she is wise beyond her years. Her true passion is for music and fashion design. She at one time played the violin, but it just wasn't her cup of tea. She was blessed with a beautiful voice, but due to her shyness in front of people, she never sings alone. So what does she do?
**MJ_KiDD** is a thirteen year old with a love for #ALLTHINGSMUSIC. You can always catch her with her celly, earbuds in her ears, listening to one of 407 songs and a notepad and pen. She is jotting down lyrics, tapping out beats, and giving her own personal opinion of music. She likes music from the 70's-90's. It's her love for the strong, more intense, captivating, off the wall beats that made Metal 2 Music Executive Franz Ates take an interest in her. She loves how his beats are "out the box. Unlike any I have ever heard." On an upcoming instrumental mixtape produced by Franz you will find her serving as the creative designer.
Acting as College Radio intern allows her to learn more about an industry she already loves immensely.
RIP MICHAEL JACKSON...from Your #1 Fan!!!!
