June is our neighboring country's ABI/TBI Awareness Month, and TMDS wishes all a great few weeks of brain injury information, awareness and celebration, eh? Jodi Ginter is expected to join Sam Way for a visit from way Up North. My lovely calming, co-host Jasmine Guidance joins me for an open discussion on Frontal Lobes, its expectations and head injury effects. Her first step into BICS, learning 'the brain'. I'm so proud of her efforts towards a past avoided recovery process. She ROCKS! (as early numbers show).
Dr. Kevin Butterfield will return after his month-long TMDS 'holiday' to offer his point on the frontal lobe (he loves this stuff) and the upcoming Race4Time weekend. If I can get him away from Waldo that is. In hiding, sorta. RHI Sports Director Jake Patrick is expected to stop by early, and offer information about the June 17-18 Disability Ski Trip, where the abilities blossom. Its an exiting, fun, and truely safe experience you never forget, because ya go every year. Other summer programs explained as well.
Miracle League sign-ups have began, with the regular season beginning July 26th. I'll see if Cindy Brooks can call in too; I hope so - we like her. Jasmine will attempt to keep me in check all night long (wish her luck), but Med MJ Month has come to a close, and its time to climb back in my studio seat and join my favorite crowd - folks interested in brain injurys. We all should be; I hate this part but...Any time, Any one, Any place and Many ways a Brain Injury can happen - some survive, many don't..
Got a second? Next....
With recent events in both TNA and WWE it is only fitting that we discuss injurys. Daniel Bryan with his neck surgery and Kurt Angle with torn ACL. We will give our thoughts about the return of both Angle and Bryan. The Champions will also give our thoughts on the fate of the WWE World Title. We will discuss the best and worse injury comebacks. The worst in ring injuries. The list is a whos who of wrestling from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels. We will also discuss those who gave it all in the ring and will never compete again. Plus news, rumors and crazy antics!
Hi, my name is Dana... I am a recovering addict . . .
I will be 52 years old in March, 2014.
There have been many crisis’ in my life. I smoked pot from the time I was 14 until I was in my 30's. Past drug use includes alcohol, cocaine, crack cocaine & marijuana. Alcohol has never been my drug of choice, however, it is still a drug & I have only abstained from that for 6 years in the past 30.
30 years ago it was cocaine, alcohol & pot. In 1989 I went into Chemical Dependency (CD) treatment and was successful. I was completely clean for 5+ years. I did relapse & begin to smoke pot & drink again.
18 years ago I started using crack cocaine (they say when you relapse you take off right where you left off, which I did). I went into inpatient CD treatment for that, quit & stayed off crack cocaine, however after a couple of years of complete sobriety, I began smoking pot & drinking again.
During 2007 & 2008 I was drinking too much & at the wrong times. Having been in treatment 2 times before, I knew the 12-steps, had the tools, and knew if I didn’t get help that it would dictate my life. For the 2nd time since 1989, I went into inpatient treatment in May, 2008. I was working recovery after getting out of treatment in June 2008. I relapsed after 10 months of sobriety in March 2009.
I decided that because of previous relapses and prevention skills that I had not learned and/or adhered to in the past that this would be a good time for me to take things a step further. I attended 4-5 meetings a week and was GSR (General Service Rep) at two meetings.
I am now working MY recovery program and going on 6 years of being physically AND emotionally sober.
A conversation with Covinaman.
Who has the things in place RIGHT now? WE see plenty of people talking bout it . How do you fund this nation? Who has the right plan , this week Monday- Black kills 13, Congress decreases food stamps, Thursday- Chicago man injurys 13 including 3 yr old baby.
So When do we get serious about this New Nation or do we continue to accept this way of life.
