Join ConversationCrossroad radio show hosts Betty-Lynn White and Garrison Leykam for their INDIEvening interview with indie artist Kate Hope.
Kate's songwriting style tips her hat to greats such as Alison Krauss, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Emmylou Harris and the late Eva Cassidy. She continues to perform as a Classical vocal soloist and piano accompanist as well as teaching privately in CT and NY.
Kate teamed up with guitarist and arranger Mark Mollica in 2006 to rearrange several tracks from her previously unreleased 2004 solo album ("Letting Go" featuring Grammy Award Winning Producer and Musician Lloyd Maines from the Dixie Chicks) in addition to collaborating on many new songs. Kate’s focus is her passion on the creative process of songwriting (lyrics and melody) while Mark molds the songs and styles with his elegantly supportive guitar arrangements.
Their digitally released EP titled “Taking Flight” (March 17, 2010) is available on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon.com and several other online distributors. The songs are autobiographical and as Kate calls it “the best way I know to move forward from life's losses and focus on love.” “Singing and songwriting serve as a means to persevere, to process and to move the elephants out of the room and into the open air. The best direction I've ever gotten about singing was from a wise man and dear friend - he simply said "Be sincere." http://conversationcrossroad.com/?p=3056

"This is COIN. We met in Nashville three months ago and decided that everything is too serious; so, we started a new project. Some call it swirly indie party pop. With catchy synth lines, organic drums, groovy bass parts and spacey guitar tones, we just want to make music people can dance to. Drawing cereal coffee sleeping couches lazy dance honey seasick bicycle casual friday malibu suite suzie 1992." COIN is Joe Memmel, Ryan Winnen, and Chase Lawrence.
