About Dr. Fred Vaziri
Dr. Fred Vaziri holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition from the University of California, Davis with an emphasis in Biochemistry. He holds a degree in Chiropractic medicine from Los Angeles College. He also holds a degree in Acupuncture and Herbology from the Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine.
For the past 25 years, Dr. Vaziri has built a successful and diverse practice by integrating both Western and Eastern philosophies. But did you know that the wealthy do not buy into these newest and greatest inventions? In fact, they are not even swayed by the marketing of it all.
One of the traits that the wealthy share among themselves is that they are CONSISTENT. They are consistent in their efforts, in their failures (yes, they fail and they fail often), and in their routines. Which in turn makes them consistent in their wealth. Ever heard of the story of The Tortoise and The Hare? Notice that the tortoise was consistent in his efforts, even though it seemed like he was losing. I wouldn't be surprised if the tortoise turned out to be a millionaire.
Tonight, we will share how and why consistency is a common trait among the wealthy, why average people don't take the time to develop this trait, and simple action steps we can start today on our path to creating our ideal life.
Insulin also helps muscles rebuild, but without adequate carbohydrate consumption, muscle cells can become insulin resistant. And protein consumed without carbohydrates is less efficient. That's why you should consume carbohydrates and protein during a workout.
By consuming carbohydrates during exercise, you can increase insulin production and reduce cortisol's response. With less cortisol produced, you'll have less muscle breakdown. Protein allows for sustained energy and helps the body recover faster. Liquid meals, such as a protein smoothie with fruit, are beneficial during this important rebuilding stage because they are easily digested.
Between workouts, carbohydrates and protein work together to fully replenish muscle energy stores and build new muscle. To reap the most benefit, consume carbs and protein at each meal and snack.
The protein recommendation for a strength athlete is 0.9 to 1.2 grams per pound of bodyweight. Different types of protein—whey and casein—help build muscle. Whey is fast acting and best consumed during and immediately following a workout. Casein is more slowly digested. It's great to take before bed to help minimize muscle loss during the overnight fast. Here are daily recommendations for all food groups, listed as a percentage of total daily calories:
Protein — 21-24 percent
Carbohydrates — 43-46 percent
Fat — 33 percent
A common theme that I have come across while researching and studying on how not to be broke is this: the middle class is disappearing. Have you ever seen the movies Elysium, In Time, and Looper? If you notice (or if you haven't watched it) there is no middle class: there are only the rich and the poor.
We, the middle class, are currently in a situation similiar to the frog in the boiling pot. We, like the frog, don't know know that while we are sitting in comfortable warm water, the situation will soon become unbearable and by then, it will be to late to save ourselves.

Having two young toddlers makes me reflect back on a lot of things. Especially financial decision making. Like with many of you, I wasn't raise on how to manage money and the schools never taught it (I've said this many times before). While researching the wealthy, I was curious to find out how they raise their children to become financially sucessful.

The word ‘protein’ refers to a type of molecule in food that can be broken down into amino acids. The body needs twenty amino acids - as a biological machine it can create (or synthesize) eleven of these itself. However there are nine, called ‘essential amino acids’ that the body cannot create and has to gain through the consumption of food.
These ‘essential amino acids’ are: Tryptophan, Threonine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Valine and Histidine.
When we eat, the body breaks down the protein in food in order to create the amino acids that it needs.
Although most foods contain protein some foods are richer in some of the essential amino acids than others. Usually, therefore, foods need to be combined so that the body receives all the amino acids it needs on a daily basis – part of the reason that a varied, balanced diet is essential to us. For example, if you ate only blueberries you may start to lack the Tryptophan, Lysine and Histidine that your body needs - introducing some meat and/or cheese into your diet would help to address these deficiencies.
