Human Trafficking
Mrs Rosa Bernard moved to Indianapolis from Denver in 1998 and joined Barnes United Methodist Church. She immediately became involved with the local chapter of the United Methodist Women organization. She served as Social Actions Coordinator for the Southern Indiana Conference for four years.
In addition, she served as secretary for the Steering Committee during the realignment of the Northern and Southern Indiana Conferences. And for the past 8 years served on the Bishop's Episcopacy committee and later as secretary. Presently, she serves on a Human Trafficking Team through the Women's Division and had her training in 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia.
In September 2011, Mrs Bernard and the UMW Mission Team traveled to Brazil, where the Ubunti Team shared information in two cities Sao Paula and Fortalezza. We are delighted to have such a well versed person speak on the subject of "Human Trafficking".
Mrs. Bernard explains Ubunti " is the essence of being human. It speaks of the fact that my humanity is caught up and is inextricably bound up in yours. I am Human because I belong. It speaks about wholeness, it speaks about compassion".

Belinda Hanson - Portland Oregon Autism Resource Guide
Today Autism Empowerment Radio welcomes Belinda Hanson, founder of the popular Portland Oregon Autism Resource Guide Facebook Community.
Belinda is the proud mother of two, a 6 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. Her oldest is on the autism spectrum. Belinda has other relatives in her family that are autistic too as she puts it "spectrummy".
Her interest in starting the Portland Oregon Autism Resource page came from a place where she had a great interest in all areas of autism but found that many sites were specific in their interests within autism.
Belinda wanted a place to gather information that was beneficial to newly diagnosed adults, parents, educators, therapists and other family members. Her page provides information that supported living with autism but also looks at different research studies with a minimal amount of bias and enables people to discuss points of view respectfully and share stories while also being able to ask for help.
Finding resources was the first thing she wanted to share because finding a pediatrician, therapy, community places to meet and support groups to share our world among other things was and is an important part of the journey. It needs to respect the autistic person and the support group too and bridge these communities together in meaningful ways.
Autism Empowerment is a fan of Belinda's work and invites you to check out and like her page and Facebook communTags: Belinda Hanson Autism Portland Facebook Resource Guide

Shining a Light Into the Dark World of Human Trafficking
Racial slavery may have ended in the U. S. over 200 years ago, but there is a new brand of slavery that is alive and well. It has swallowed up and victimized millions of women and children all over the globe.
From street prostitution, to online escort services, to residential brothels that could be operating right under your nose in your very own neighborhood, human trafficking is on the rise and has become a billion-dollar criminal industry.
How can you spot a victim of this vile crime? What can you do to protect the innocent from being trapped? What can you do to help those who need to be rescued?
These questions and many others are what our guest, author, speaker, and activist, Kathi Macias is here to answer.
Join the conversation about this very urgent issue. Call 646-716-6910 or chat LIVE with us in our chat room during the show!
