John's repertoire runs from Cole Porter to Coldplay. As a singer and classically trained pianist, John Jones has been entertaining crowds in the Midwest full-time since 2004. Whether augmented with arrangements of his 150+ self-produced backing tracks or simply playing and singing, his expressive vocals and dynamic piano work have led people to a few common opinions, expressed to John in conversations, emails, and social media posts; "John Jones is full of passion for what he does. It's hard to take your eyes off the energy of his performances. I've never seen so many people dancing in a piano bar."
In addition to his live performance work, John is an internationally-distributed songwriter. R&B/jazz vocalist Maysa Leak (of the British funk group Incognito) has recorded two of his songs for solo projects: "Honeybee" was featured on her 2010 album "A Woman in Love," and the ballad "Everything" appeared on her 2003 release "Out of the Blue." He's released three independent albums of original songs on iTunes and the internet: "Homegrown," "Shine Right Where You Are," and "Everything I Have."

Baghdad to Boston - Terrorism Strikes the American Homeland
Although the gruesome sight of mangled body parts is an everyday reality in countries occupied or bombed by the U.S. military, last Monday's 'double-tap' bombing in downtown Boston was the first terror attack on U.S. soil in 12 years.
To date no arrests have been made in connection with the bombing, no group has claimed responsibility and no motive has been offered by the authorities. While facts remain thin on the ground, a number of clues suggest that 'homegrown' terrorists are being lined up to take the fall...
So on this week's show we're going to take a look at what happened at the Boston Marathon finish line and try to make sense of an apparently senseless act. We'll also be discussing events peripheral to the bombing and looking back at the Oklahoma City bombing, which took place almost 18 years ago to the day.
If you're in the Boston area, we want to hear from you about your experiences this week. Downtown obviously went into lockdown after the bombings, but did you notice anything unusual in the run-up to the attacks? And have you noticed the not-so-subtle propaganda insinuating that 'patriots' and 'gun owners' were somehow responsible for what was clearly a professional operation!
Everyone is asking 'Whodunnit?' While we can't tell you who exactly, we can offer a well-informed opinion or two... Join us as we connect the dots this Sunday 21st April from 2-4pm EDT (8-10pm CET)

Secular Sunday
Lectures, music and books designed to escape the bread and circus of spectator sport extravaganzas tjhat dominate American popular media.
A current edition of Point of Inquiry featuring Amanda Marcotte, a regular on RFK's late night "This Way Out Tuesday" with the RH Reality Cast. She will be one of the featured speakers at the upcoming, "Women in Secularism" conference. The March 18th conversation with POI host Chris Mooney is titled, "Skepticism Needs Feminism."
Then Jay Lockenour will interview Stanley Payne on his book The Spanish Civil War for the New Books Network.
From the program summary: "Published by Cambridge University Press as part of its Essential Histories series, Payne’s work synthesizes a lifetime of study in Spain, laying out the origins of the civil war in Spain’s deeply fractured political culture, and tracing the international and military developments that led to Francisco Franco’s eventual triumph in 1939. As Payne points out, the Spanish Civil War has been mythologized for political purposes since the day it began, much to the detriment of our understanding of the real story."
Also from NBN, Heath Brown inteviews Isaac Campos about his book "Homegrown: Marijuana and the Origins of Mexico's War on Drugs" University North Carolina Press.
Music provided by Joyce Har Lindorff playing the harpsichord.
Short poetry and essays provided by the volunteer readers at Libris Vox.

An Essential in Organic Gardening – Learning How to Preserve
As we’ve been learning more and more about commercial agriculture and chemicals, not to mention Genetically Modified Foods and seeds, increasing numbers of people are opting to be growing some of their own vegetables. Homegrown produce is not only more flavorful, but can also be more nutritious and healthful if grown organically or naturally. And many longtime gardeners know that saving your own seed is an essential part of this. So how can you do that? Dia
