Our featured guest is Norma Luciano, born to a Jewish mother from Jerusalem and Jewish father from Brooklyn. Norma embraces her Jewish heritage, history, and traditions, and she is a believer in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Norma became a Christian in 1987 and began a new spiritual journey. She attends Beit Tikvah Messianic Congregation in Newcastle, Washington. Norma is an accomplished author of adult and children's books, lives in Seattle, Washington, is married, and a former school security specialist.
Norma will offer a Jewish-Christian perspective on blood moons. Moons turning to blood is referenced in the Bible in Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20, and Rev. 6:12-14. Blood moons are often described as a total lunar eclipse, which occurs when the earth casts its shadow on a full moon and eclipses it. The result is the moon may get a red glow – referred to as a Blood Red Moon.
Total lunar eclipses are rare and normally happen twice a year. There is no particular order for lunar eclipses, but sometimes four total lunar eclipses will happen in a row. This occurrence is called a lunar tetrad. Tetrads are rather rare. The first three total eclipses in this lunar tetrad occurred on April 15, 2014, October 8, 2014, and April 4, 2015. The last eclipse of the tetrad occurred on September 27-28, 2015.
What is the significance of the blood moons? What connection can be made between blood moons and significant Jewish history – The Spanish Inquisition in 1492, The Nation of Israel Reborn in 1948, and the Arab-Israeli’s Six-Day War in 1967? How do blood moons tie in with Israel today?
Norma will explore those questions and offer an interpretation of historical Jewish events and how they relate to blood moons and Biblical prophecy.

Kay Kendall is a long-time fan of historical novels and now writes atmospheric mysteries that capture the spirit and turbulence of the sixties. Terribly allergic to her bunnies, she loves them anyway! Her book titles show she's a Bob Dylan buff too. RAINY DAY WOMEN published on July 7--the second in her Austin Starr Mystery series. She says, "In my mystery series featuring Austin Starr, amateur sleuth, I explore what life was like for a typical young woman--not a headline maker, not a Hanoi Jane or Angela Davis, but a moderate who nonetheless got swept up by history's tides during the turbulent sixties. All that turmoil lends itself to drama, intrigue, and murder." For more visit http://kaykendallauthor.com.

Gun Control & Historical Racism
As Black Americans we must realize that gun control laws, from a historical perspective, serve one purpose, to keep us vulnerable and more easily oppressed. This is not conjecture or rhetoric, it is easily documented fact.
Join us, Alex Primo and Asha Zuri, Thursday October 8th at 9 PM EST as we explore the way America sought to disarm Melanated individuals across the land as part of a ruthless plot to control, intimidate, and in many cases murder innocent slaves and freed men alike.
Brendan O’Neill of the Guardian notes:
Throughout the 1800's, states passed gun-control laws that were fundamentally racist. So, panicked by the prospect of more black rebellions against white landowners, the North Carolina Supreme Court passed a statute in 1840 that said: “If any free negro, mulatto, or free person of color shall wear or carry about his or her person, or keep in his or her house, any shotgun, musket, rifle, pistol, sword, dagger or bowie-knife… he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and may be indicted therefore.”
In 1941, a judge in Florida’s Supreme Court called the laws into question when he overturned the conviction of a black man for carrying a handgun without a permit. He overturned the conviction, he said, because this law “was passed for the purpose of disarming the negro laborers … and to give the white citizens in sparsely settled areas a better feeling of security. The statute was never intended to be applied to the white population and in practice has never been so applied.”

The Step Street Project of the St. Thomas Historical Trust has the objective of raising public awareness as to the historical value and uniqueness of Charlotte Amalie’s 45 step streets, and to initiate and coordinate programs to renovate, restore and maintain these valuable historical and cultural objects as present day working infrastructure, of benefit to the community.
Over the years many of these step streets, although used daily by hundreds of Virgin Islanders on their way to school, work, and their personal business, have been allowed to run down and in some cases are severely decayed due to neglect and lack of maintenance. On the other hand those step streets that have been kept up such as the well known “99 steps” are a source of pride in their community and are well known island wide. These few examples also serve as a model as to what may be achieved by beautification and restoration of these fine examples of our public architectural heritage.
The intention of the St Thomas Historical Trust is to partner with the various communities and community organizations and on a phased basis restore, renovate and beautify about 3 to 5 step streets per year. In the first round of restorations we will be partnering with “My Brothers Workshop”, MBW. They have been working with at risk young men and women in the community by teaching them building and construction skills. MBW have been active in restoring a number of historical buildings will training the youngsters in construction and social work skills.
The restoration process being contemplated will replace broken bricks, archways and entrance columns, ensuring compliance to the historical specifications. ~ Courtesy of the St. Thomas Historical Trust
