Today, John Stanko speaks with Herb Shaffer, the founding pastor of New Song Community Church and the director of the institute for Servant Leadership. As an MSOL alumnus, Herb recognizes the value of effective leadership and strives to live that out in his many endeavors as a leader, teacher, trainer, mentor, motivational speaker, and writer.
Beginning from scratch in 1990, Herb has worked with New Song Community Church through the organizational phases from its birth to its maturity and has exemplified servant leadership as he used his God-given abilities to pour into and build up the congregation. Additionally, through his director role with Servant Leadership, he invests in the lives of laypeople and pastors to develop them as leaders for local congregations. His unique experience with ministry and MSOL has also presented him with the opportunity to educate others via college courses in the areas of leadership, organizational dynamics, critical thinking, communication, and life development.

R.E.S.T.O.R.E. - The first "R" of this Planet Restoration acronymn stands for "Relation"; and, for this reason, we want to turn our attention to our relations currently facing and attempting to address the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Why has the international communtiy been so slow to respond, and appear to have turned its back on Africa? What is reality and what is myth concerning the Ebola virus? How has the global media helped to raise awareness and stem the spread of the virus; AND, has the media made matters worse by stoking peoples' greatest fears, promoting misinformation, misrepresenting how Africa actually is, and magnifying already-existing stigmas surrounding disease in Africa? What can everyday people do right now to help stop the spread of Ebola?
Our first guest, Olimatta Taal of SenGhigen Productions, whose family is from The Gambia, West Africa, is working with various reggae and world-music artists to promote an education campaign to highlight African voices on the continent and throughout the diaspora addressing this complex issue and helping educate communities, as well as providing much-needed 'Ebola packs.'
Our second guest will be John F. Lloyd, former Commissioner of the Office of African Affairs for the Government of the District of Columbia. He also served as Chairman of Governance & Reform on the Liberian Diaspora Advisory Board, Embassy of Liberia in Washington, D.C. Lloyd is currently serving as the Chairman of the Diaspora Ebola Network that is convening a summit in Washington, D.C. on December 5th, bringing together organizational leaders and nationals of the West African Diaspora community from all regions of the United States, Europe, and Canada in an united effort to halt the deadly Ebola epidemic.
Can positive thoughts "activate" an inanimate object in spellwork? Can willing a root or herb to do your bidding awaken the spirit within the root for your use? Is it necessary to have set rituals to do spiritual work or can you just make it up as you go along, or go with what your intuition tells you? Why are rituals even necessary when doing spiritual work? Do we even need to follow the tradition of our elders in today's modern society? Join Candelo Kimbisa Robert Lucas and Malik Kimbiza as they talk about the importance of doing rituals with inanimate objects her on Candelo's Corner on the LMC Radio Network.
