Medicine for the Mind with Dr. Wayne from Harvard

    in Health

Living in the 21st century means less time, more stress; less standing more sitting; less walking more driving; less slow food, more fast food and less face time more Facebook. All this adds up to a very poor state of mind, body and health. Leading to a slew of health problems from depression, aches and pains, heart diseases and the list goes on. Finding a solution in a pill or a surgery could seem smart but not always wise. As one explores holistic / complementary approaches to issues of the mind and body and health, very naturally we are confused with what works and what doesn’t, who to believe and what to believe? This dilemma holds us back from taking our first step towards trying out holistic approaches even though they have been scientifically proven to help heal us. Today, on the show we are discussing Tai Chi, Yoga and meditation with experts who will answer a lot of our burning questions and hopefully bring clarity to this very important issue of our time.

Peter Wayne, PhD is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He is the Director of Research for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine jointly based at the HMS and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His research to date, supported by more than 20 NIH grants, has focused on evaluating how Tai Chi and related mind-body practices clinically impact a variety of chronic health conditions, and understanding the physiological, mechanical, and psychological mechanisms underlying mind-body practices’ therapeutic effects. Peter has more than 35 years of training experience in Tai Chi and Qigong, and is an internationally recognized teacher of these practices. He is also author of the recently published book, “Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi”.

On the panel are Dr. Carol Horton and Morgan Dix.

CHRIS JASPER (ISLEY BROTHERS) WITH LAMONT KDIDDY PATTERSON 2

    in Music

If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you know Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, CHRIS JASPER, an
integral member of THE ISLEY BROTHERS during the 1970s and 1980s—their gold and platinum years—from the 3+3
(1973) to Between the Sheets (1983) albums. These were the years when THE ISLEY BROTHERS were a self-produced,
    self-contained group.
If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you have heard the music of CHRIS JASPER, who was primarily
responsible for writing, arranging and producing all of THE ISLEY BROTHERS music during this time, including such
beautiful love songs as “For The Love of You” and “Between the Sheets” and uptempo funk such as “Fight the Power.” His
arrangements and instrumentation as a classically-trained musician, and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, are
the foundation of the legendary “Isley Brothers Sound.” When the six members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS disbanded
(1984), Marvin and Ernie Isley joined CHRIS JASPER and formed ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY. Without this crucial musical
component, THE ISLEY BROTHERS were no longer a self-produced, self-contained group.
CHRIS JASPER brought his “unique sound” and musical talents to ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY, and topped the charts singing
lead vocals on “Caravan of Love” (1985), a song that was covered by English recording group, the Housemartins, an
international #1 pop hit. “Caravan” was also used in commercials as part of a Dodge Caravan advertising campaign. He was
also awarded a CEBA Award For Excellence for a Miller Brewing Company commercial. The music for that commercial
formed the basis for “Brother to Brother” from the “Different Drummer” album, which supported the anti-apartheid struggle
going on in South Africa at that time.CALL IN #347-308-8747

    Obtaining Endless Energy

    in Health

    SHOW DESCRIPTION:

Energy. Everybody wants more energy. Just look at the line ups at your local Starbucks or check out the cold beverage display at 7-11 where energy drinks have taken over. But what if you could produce endless energy without the aid of caffeinated beverages? You can and my guest this week is going to discuss her everyday tips and tools that will change your energy levels and thereby your life. If you want to have endless energy consistently, tune in this week to find out what you can do starting today to make this a reality.

    GUEST BIO:

Debra Greene began her energy exploration at the age of 24 when she traveled alone to Egypt, India, China, Colombia, and elsewhere in search of life's unseen mysteries. She studied Tai Chi with Master Liang, an 84 year old Chinese Master who could propel someone twice his size across the room without even touching them. At Ohio State University she formalized her experiential understanding of how human energies work with a rigorous and rare Ph.D. in Communication and Somatic Studies (Body-Mind Integration). Debra trained in kinesiology muscle testing and at once saw the potential for communicating with the body-mind system. She developed Inner Clarity (IC), an energy balancing method that uses the feedback of kinesiology energy testing to pinpoint hidden limiting beliefs and a vast array of energy-based techniques to transform them.
