Texans Training Camp; Players, Coaches and Hard Knocks!

    in Sports

I’m here every Thursday at 11am CST to talk about the hot sports topics of the week and to bring you interviews and guests that go beyond the headlines and typical highlights and scores. Of course this is a sports show so we’ll talk about what’s happening on the field and court…but here you’ll get a different perspective and unique voice on everything that is sports.

We’ll take a look at the Houston Texans and their first week of Training Camp. The Texans will soon be a household name....at least on HBO Sports as they are the “Hard Knocks” team for 2015. Our NFL team is gearing up for the season and so are we!

We’re keeping our eyes on the Houston Astros. Actually they call it Club Astros, and it’s the hottest nightclub in in town right now. Last week they made a deal for Scott Kazmir. How good can this team be? Are they really ready for the post season? We’ll talk about it and have a special baseball guest to help us navigate the conversation.

All of this and more on Chalk Talk… sports talk for women and anyone who wants to be informed and entertained!

Real and Personal with D'Luv - "The Real Hard Knocks" Coming out a Champ (pt 2)

    in Lifestyle

    Hello Everyone Thanks For Listening!

Last week I expressed my personal views on a few, "School of Hard Knock" challenges I've dealth with in my life, and there are a few more I feel worth sharing with you all.  My point is that we can never escape the circumstances of life, but we can purpose in our mind to find some sort of resilience within ourselves to work through those difficult times.  Have you ever been "suckered punched" by life?  Yep, I mean knocked out and didn't know which way to turn!

Many of us are aware of the fact, that in life - we will win some battles and we lose some, but what really matters is how many we win!  I have to be completely honest, it's hard to train for a fight and still lose. It's, like studing for a test and still not get the grade you expected, or working your butt off for a promotion you knew you deserved!   How about working at being the best you can be in life by purposing to play a fair game, but you lose to a Cheat?  All of these elements of life can beat us down - if we allow it.

If you would like to learn some simple and effective tips on how to bounce back after getting knocked down (if not knocked out), then I would love to give you tools on how to score and come back like a Champ!

Got some "School of Hard Knocks" life challenges you like to share?  I'm all ears!

    Until next time, take care...

    D'Luv

Houston Texans & Hard Knocks; Rockets Playoff Run Ends and more....

    in Sports

The Houston Texans, HBO Sports and NFL Films are teaming up for an all-access look at what it takes to make it in the National Football League when HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE HOUSTON TEXANS debuts in August. The first sports-based reality series – and one of the fastest-turnaround programs on TV – kicks off its five-episode tenth season this summer. Texans Owner Bob McNair and General Manger Rick Smith talk about the team's decision to bare it all and share the behind the scenes stories from camp with the entire nation. NFL Films Supervising Producer Ken Rodgers and Director Matt Dissinger discuss how the show is produced, why they selected the Texans and their goal for the show.              Later in the show we talk with some of the players about the first day of OTA's and their thoughts about being on HARD KNOCKS. Louis Nix is back on the field for the first time, Brian Hoyer is making his Texans' OTA debut and Duane Brown is gearing up for a season with more changes on the offensive line.    The NBA Finals are set after the Houston Rockets fell to the Golden State Warriors in game five of the Western Conference Finals 104-90. Steph Curry and the Warriors will take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. We'll talk about last night's Rockets loss; what this team needs to do to take the next step more.                           There are a lot of headlines topping the sports world this week including the drama surrounding FIFA. It's all up for discussion on this week's show.

Real and Personal with D'Luv. .. "The Real Hard Knocks"

    in Relationships

    Hey Ya'll thanks for listening!

Although I am not at liberty to comment on every post - due to time contraints, I do see all the commentaries, joyful expressions, beautiful pictures, and all the challenges that seem to interupt the ebb and flow of your lives.  So, I thought I would share some of the questions I sometimes ask myself when life is not being as forgiving as I have been or as I would like it to be.  "Am I in the twilight zone" or "Are we truly living in the end times."  For example:  Have you ever made a well thought out decision, followed all protocol, and still  have everything  fall apart?   Or, have you ever purposed to "be the bigger person" in a situation, only to realize you shorted yourself!  Then it finally hit you  "You can't reason with a FOOL!

But, when I reflect on life and how beautiful GOD made Man, Woman and all of its inhabitants, I can't help but thank HIM for ALL His Love, Life, Forgiveness, Mercy, Grace, -  HE has granted to us all.  However, inspite of all this, I still struggle a bit when confronted with unfair challenges or when life presents me with a nice big surprise I was not expecting.  Oh, how frustrating this can be!

LIFE IS HARD...., but WE must stay Connected to our Creator daily to fight this battle..Real Talk!

    Talk to you soon...

40 - Michael Jordan’s NBA Legacy Is Complicated

    in Basketball

On Jan. 13, 1999, Michael Jordan retired from the NBA a second time. But what if he never left?

His Airness essentially lost two seasons (1993-94, most of 1994-95) when he first walked away to play baseball. Then, after winning his sixth championship with the Chicago Bulls in 1998, he bowed out once more, only to return as a member of the Washington Wizards three years later.

What would have happened if Jordan played through the entirety of each of those five missed or abbreviated seasons? How many titles did he leave on the table? How many league MVP awards should he have won? Would he have shattered Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record?

Join Adam and Dan as they come to terms with an unsettling, yet unassailable, reality: Already considered the greatest player ever, Michael Jordan left behind an incomplete legacy.
