Mothers are tired of losing their children to gun violence. They are tired of funerals. They are tired of crying in anguish at the news of another young life snuffed out by a senseless shooting. They want the violence to end, and they are taking to the streets with the aim to close down the business that makes it all possible: gun shops. Mothers Against Guns is an organized effort to stop the flow of guns to depressed inner city areas where crime has increased due to desperation created by lack of economic opportunities. Drug sales have become the means of paying ones rent and groceries for too many families, which involves them in the ongoing turf wars with street organizations who strive to control the drug traffic and rake in the largest share of income from drug sales. It's a deadly war that requires firearms to protect ones right to sell on any given block, and often involves retaliatory shootings by those who seek to avenge past shootings. The cycle of violence never ends. Mothers Against Guns seeks to end the cycle by ending the gun flow. Last week, after protesters marched against Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale, Illinois, we explored the point of view of those who uphold the right to carry arms as a means of protection against crime. This week we'll look on the other side of the argument as Dr. JoAnn Roberts, one of the protest march organizers, explains why Mothers Against Guns is seeking to close the shops that sell the weapons which end up in the hands of those who are responsible for senseless shooting deaths.
The year was 1957. Monroe, North Carolina, was a rigidly segregated town where all levels of white society and government were dedicated to preserving the racial status quo. Blacks who dared to speak out were subject to brutal, sadistic violence.
It was common practice for convoys of Ku Klux Klan members to drive through black neighborhoods shooting in all directions. A black physician who owned a nice brick house on a main road was a frequent target of racist anger. In the summer of 1957, a Klan motorcade sent to attack the house was met by a disciplined volley of rifle fire from a group of black veterans and NRA members led by civil rights activist Robert F. Williams
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice echoed similar sentiments in 2005 when she explained her strong support of the Second Amendment to Larry King. “The way I come out of my own personal experience, in which in Birmingham, Ala., my father and his friends defended our community in 1962 and 1963 against White Knight Riders by going to the head of the community, the head of the cul-de-sac, and sitting there, armed. And so I’m very concerned about any abridgement of the Second Amendment.”
Today Kevin and Mike will discuss Current second amendment news and legislation from current pro gun legislation to what is on the table, this will be a packed show fully loaded with everything guns and gun rights.
Defending the Constitution and Conservative Values
The 1st Amendment of the Constitution is one of the cornerstones of American society. As such, it has always been the subject of debate, contention and support. But as of late, the 1st Amendment has come under increased attack from many fronts. Most notably, from Liberals and those who have pure political agendas that absoulutely oppose anyone who has a philosophy contrary to their own. As part of the continuing Constitution Series, we'll discuss- verbatum- what the 1st Amendment says and the opposition to it in the past and today.
In the first hour we talked about Sandra Fluke's statement that that the girls being held captive by Boko Haram should “count themselves lucky” they weren't being held captive by Republicans. We also talked about the effort to remove Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill and replace him with a woman. In the second hour we talked about the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. What makes a citizen? Is Ted Cruz eligible to be president? Are "anchor babies" legal? Does equal protection under the law apply to same-sex marriage? Let's talk about it and I'll take calls on these topics.
On today's show, I want to focus on two recent statements that make individuals such as myself and probably many of you nervous or even offended when politicians say such things. Surrounded by their supporters and like minded individuals, in recent weeks presumed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and our current president Barack Obama have uttered things that make one wonder if the first amendment even matters to them. I'll talk about what both of them said, as well as some general commentary on abortion, sanctity of life, freedom of religion, and this economy of Barack Obama's today on the show. Listen live at 4:30 PM Eastern, or listen on the archives afterward. Check out the Facebook page and follow the show on Blog Talk as well.
It's freedom Friday, and it's time to make freedom happen. Join Shane Krauser, the host of Liberty Storm, for some fiery conversation. Talk show host, Kate Krueger, joins us in studio for a great show. They hit on the following:
1. President Obama issued an executive order revolving around amnesty. What should be done?
2. How do we create a culture that ultimately understands freedom and the importance of the rule of law?
3. What must be done to preserve our Second Amendment?
4. Freedom requires vigilance. What is your role?

Safety is an issue that mothers worry about. How to keep their children safe is a subject they may disagree on. Is it better to carry a weapon to protect oneself, or is it better to get rid of all weapons so that one does not have to protect oneself? The pro-gun/anti gun sides discuss the issue of violence and how to stop it and prevent it
