    The media (fair or not)?

    in Radio

Do you trust the media to report the news accurately and fair.  Some people have a problem with watching the news because they feel like its not being reported fairly.  What makes a good news story?  Everytime there is a break out in the black communities, the news have a camera crew there so fast to report it however, on the flip side of things, when there is a breakout in the white communities people feel as if its swept under the rug and kept quiet only getting minimum.  How much affect does the media have on keeping negative stereotypical outlooks on the black communities.  There is news that happes around us that we never have a clue about because it doesn't get reported.  Did you know according to the Statisics under President Obama's Administrations in the last 2 years 49% of people killed by police were white, 30% were black. But this is not what is being reported on the news.  This shows an unbalance and unfairness to the stories being reported. Some people feel this is what keeps the black communities oppressed, fighting, angry, bitter, and a sense of worthlessness because some people feel that police are only out here killing black people when in fact the percentage number shows that there are more whites that have been killed but why haven't we heard of these reporting Let's talk about this tonight on the K Smilez show with K Smilez and Angie B.

Politics Done Right - Jeb Bush channels brother’s at the Iowa State Fair

    in Politics

Today we will discuss how Jeb Bush cannot help channeling his brother George W Bush’s failed narrative, propensity to lie, and policies. Can he be so naive to believe that can get him elected?

The following Jeb Bush statement echos his brother more succinctly and is much more inconspicuously dangerous. “If sanctions are imposed by the United States then other countries would have the choice. Will they look at Iran as a business proposition?” Jeb Bush asked. “Perhaps jeopardizing their relationship both commercial and political and diplomatic with the United States? I think that choice would be pretty clear for some countries, maybe not Russia and China to your point. But certainly other countries would have to deeply consider whose side they are on.”

Is he channeling George W Bush? Is that not the same as ‘You are either with is or against us‘? Jeb Bush would be George W Bush’s third term.

What do you think. Let's talk about it.

The FCC: Promoting Fast, Fair & Open Broadband

    in Internet

From a regulatory perspective, the FCC is the lead agency shaping this Administration’s broadband legacy, both for its aggressive policymaking and its program funding. This interview looks at how far the FCC has come, and how much further some feel the agency should go to facilitate broadband advancement in the U.S.

Gigi Sohn, Counselor to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, gives listeners insights to the agency’s efforts to promote fast, fair and open broadband networks.  She’ll discuss issues such as community broadband, Lifeline and E-Rate modernization, net neutrality and the FCC’s role as a consumer protection agency.  As broadband networks become ever more essential to full participation in our society and our economy, the FCC's role will become even more critical.

Among Sohn’s roles at the FCC is ensuring that the public has an opportunity to participate in FCC’s proceedings that will determine the future of broadband networks.  Sohn discusses how consumers and small businesses can make their voice heard at the Commission.  As former CEO of the public advocacy group Public Knowledge, Sohn is well-positioned to give listeners a perspective on what it is like to go from outside advocate to inside bureaucrat.

  • The Truth about Gluten Free Oats - The Gluten Free Voice with Jules

    in Food

For years, oats were considered unsafe for those with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. Over time, we learned that oats in fact do not contain gluten, but they are so heavily contaminated during growth, cultivation, processing and packaging, that they almost always contain too much gluten to be considered gluten free under the FDA's new less than 20 parts per million of gluten standard.

Thankfully, some growers embraced the idea of a "purity protocol" whereby they would only grow oats on certain fields and they would harvest, process and package these oats apart from any gluten containing grain like wheat, barley and rye. These dedicated gluten free oats have offered a safe, high fiber, nutrient dense food to add into the gluten free diet.

Recently, some mainstream food manufacturers in the US have begun to offer oat-based products to GF consumers, sold as "mechanically separated" oats, not using the purity protocol. These products are said to test to less than 20ppm gluten and are being labeled as gluten free. Find out what this process entails, the current results of testing these products and the various opinions on its safety during this special episode on oats. Tune in to learn the difference between oats to decide what's safe for your diet and for your family.

Special guest: Seaton Smith of GF Harvest and Gluten Free Oats.
