Industrialism, fiat money as a legal tender and the statist mentality of modern Christianity has radically distorted the customs and practices of the church. Facing the real prospect of the collapse of the current system and a return to a decentralized society, it is time for Christians to revisit what the bible says about tithing, gleaning and the care of the poor.
The Society of St. Andrew was formed in 1979 as an intentional community of two families called to life and ministry together. It has grown into an ecumenical, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to leading others into lives of faithful community and service.
Since its founding in 1979, the Society of St. Andrew has worked to fulfill the mandate of the Gospel in lives by striving to adhere to the words of 1 John 3:18:
Let us love not only in words,
but in deed and in truth.
The mission of the Society of St. Andrew is to introduce people to God's grace through meeting their hungers:
Food for the body
God's word for the spirit
Community of love for the heart
Opportunity for those who desire action

Gleaning Vine Refining Silver | Show ID#rp-040913-glean-vine-refine-silver
Gleaning Vine Refining Silver a timely message which asks this question, what happens when the warnings don’t work and the refining has failed? R—U—Ready for Gleaning and Refining? Admonished to go to Jerusalem to flee the trouble in the land, the people now find themselves being told to flee out of Jerusalem. Many, however, did not listen and the siege of Jerusalem was horrific with plagues, pestilence, starvation, cannibalism, and death.
Gleaning: The law required that farmers leave the corners of their plots to be harvested by the poor
Refining: H6884; tsa^raph tsaw-raf'
A primitive root; to fuse (metal), that is, refine (literally or figuratively): - cast, (re-) fine (-er), founder, goldsmith, melt, pure, purge away, try.
As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.
Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

The oracle concerning Damascus.
“Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city
And will become a fallen ruin.
“The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks to lie down in,
And there will be no one to frighten them.
“The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
And sovereignty from Damascus
And the remnant of Aram;
They will be like the glory of the sons of Israel,”
Declares the Lord of hosts.
Now in that day the glory of Jacob will fade,
And the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
It will be even like the reaper gathering the standing grain,
As his arm harvests the ears,
Or it will be like one gleaning ears of grain
In the valley of Rephaim.
Yet gleanings will be left in it like the shaking of an olive tree,
Two or three olives on the topmost bough,
Four or five on the branches of a fruitful tree,
Declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
In that day man will have regard for his Maker
And his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel.
He will not have regard for the altars, the work of his hands,
Nor will he look to that which his fingers have made,
Even the Asherim and incense stands.
In that day their strong cities will be like forsaken places in the forest,
Or like branches which they abandoned before the sons of Israel;
And the land will be a desolation.
For you have forgotten the God of your salvation
And have not remembered the rock of your refuge.
Therefore you plant delightful plants
And set them with vine slips of a strange god.
In the day that you plant it you carefully fence it in,
And in the morning you bring your seed to blossom;
But the harvest will be a heap
In a day of sickliness and incurable pain.
Alas, the uproar of many peoples
Who roar like...
Here's a question: You want to prepare your community for the shift - from predictable climate and essential services & resources, to chaotic climate and unpredictability. To have a community where, as soon as the power grid or food supply goes down, people are ready to get going and help sustain each other.
Where do you start?
In this 31-minute interview, Claudia de la Pena Ms. de la Pena lays out the logic of community participation vs. alienation. Ms. de la Pena, a member of Transition Sonoma Valley, describes the breakthrough they had.
Her group discovered that since we will need to pool all our talents, the most valuable first step is to make sure the people in the community get to know each other.
This means the people on both sides of "the tracks" - the middle class, the working poor, the well-off, and even the homeless.
One of the first exercises is to see where people in the community could be supplying each others' needs - for food, in particular - right now.
Transition Sonoma Valley discovered that a viable first step is to obtain plentiful supplies of free organic nourishing food, through the practice of gleaning.
Gleaning used to be regarded as a practice undertaken by the poor, gathering leftovers after the harvest has already taken place. The tradition of gleaning is based on an unspoken right to those unwanted leftovers.
See the illustration, The Gleaners (Les Glaneuses), by Francois Millet, 1857.
Once a sign of shame, of necessity borne of poverty, gleaning now becomes a joyful way for the new community members to provide for each other.

If you desire to be closer to The LORD Jesus Christ you may need a bath. So when was the last time you bathed in the spiritual realm?
This is a message that's all about how to have a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Now we all truly want an intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, don't we?
We all have heard other people talk about it, and say, "Lord, I just really want to know You in a very close way."
Well, that's exactly what we'll be looking into today!
Now last week in SDG 133 we looked at how the love story between Ruth a symbol for the church and Boaz a symbol for Jesus Christ, our kinsman redeemer relates to us here and now.
This week let’s continue gleaning what we can from Ruth 3.
And see how being cleansed, consecrated and clothed daily then remaining committed and complaint to Jesus Christ will deepen our relationship with Him!
ENVISION THIS: An edible urban forest garden that inspires the community to gather together, grow their own food, and rehabilitate their local ecosystem
Our guest, Melanie Coerver, of Beacon Food Forest in Seattle, has joined with her community to design, plant, and grow an edible urban forest garden to improve public health by regenerating their public land, reducing agricultural climate impact, improving local food security, providing educational opportunities, and celebrating growing food for the benefit of all species.
A food forest is a gardening technique or land management system, which mimics a woodland ecosystem by substituting edible trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. Fruit and nut trees make up the upper level, while berry shrubs, edible perennials and annuals make up the lower levels. The Beacon Food Forest combines aspects of native habitat rehabilitation with edible forest gardening. ??Their goal is to bring the richly diverse Seattle community together by fostering a Permaculture Tree Guild approach to urban farming and land stewardship. By building a community around sharing food with the public, they are becoming inclusive to all in need of food.
At their website, http://www.beaconfoodforest.org, they say, “By building a community around sharing food with the public we hope to be inclusive to all in need of food. ??The Food Forest is set to include an Edible Arboretum with fruits gathered from regions around the world, a Berry Patch for canning, gleaning and picking, a Nut Grove with trees providing shade and sustenance, a Community Garden using the p-patch model for families to grow their own food, a Gathering Plaza for celebration and education, a Kid's Area for education and play and a Living Gateway to connect and serve as portals as you meander through the forest.”

The subject of operational security (opsec), trust, and prepper groups come up quite often in forum discussions. Trust is an important part of gleaning prospective members of your survival group. After all, you are trusting your lives as well as the lives of everyone in the group on each other. I’ve covered my six step process that I use when considering new members of my group before, but this time, I’ll go a bit further and add into it, how to decide for yourself who you can or can’t trust. It’s not simply black and white. Some of the cues I pick up on that would preclude me from accepting someone into my group, may be the exact cues you are looking for in perspective members of yours. It’s not an easy process, and takes a lot of time. Friendships have to be developed, and that means that you have to open up somewhat to others also.
This week we’ll look at My 6 step member integration process, how to know what cues to look for, and the best ways to sit back and watch how someone interacts with others to decide if they may be right for your group.

We shall conclude obervance of International Day of prayer and Peace at 11:00 am. Our Beloved Pastor and Spiritual leader , Melody, will bless us with a sharing of her Light this Sunday, Sept. 22. Her messages are always uplifting and her topics speak to the very heart of our soul. As we share the 'Light' of the 'Light' of the Creator this Sunday, Sept. 22, Pastor Melody will share her gifts of wisdom, she will open her heart. Come, let us gather together. Also, Rev. Shirley Scott will also guide us into a peaceful meditation to sooth and comfort our spirit. The blessings of spirit shall be abundant and 30 minutes of the service will be broadcast live on Blogtalk Radio. This celebration of all hearts beating as one is only the beginning. For the last day and two nights, there has been a constant gleaning of the soul through prayer. Prayer for our families, loved ones, friends and communities, prayer for ourselves. The International Day of Peace and Prayer may be over, however the paradigm that has been created this weekend will continue for as long as we breathe, for as long as we pray. Always, remember who you are, a child of the Creator of one heart, one 'LIGHT', one Soul. Go in Peace and Blessed Be.
