With experience as a nurse for over 15 years, Ms. Jones has experience in various settings which include Oncology, Women’s Health, Surgery, Medicine, Endoscopy, and most recently as clinical informatics nurse in the electronic health record department.
As an active member with the STTI Honor Society, Julie quickly began to implement online platforms to help improve communication within her chapter to grow a stronger community within the vast geographical area. From this experience, Julie grasped the possibility to use electric platforms to help organize and address certain issues amongst a community. Due to her positive experience, Ms. Jones championed to integrate electronic health records (EHR) into her work environment. Today, we will be discussing about social networking for nurses, and the effect that it can have on the medical profession.
Leading with Technology: Transforming Nursing through Social Media
Gina Prince Bythewood is a rare breed in Hollywood: a black woman who calls the shots behind the camera. And in the case of her directorial debut, it was “shots” of two types that needed tending to. In 1995, after laboring as a TV writer on A Different World and Felicity—and frustrated by her lack of creative control—she penned Love and Basketball, which tells the story of hoops-shooting childhood sweethearts who share a passion for the sport. Five years later, when the film was released, it became the top-grossing film of all time by an African American woman. That success led to a job writing and directing The Secret Life of Bees—featuring the all-star cast of Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning. “There were a lot of fights along the way but they were worth it,” Gina tells us of the film. “My biggest argument was that I can just never, ever sit in a theater looking up at my film and be disgusted or disappointed at something I’m watching. I have to believe in every frame.”

Dr. Gina joins Joe to discuss the issues of famous people and suicide, tune in and check it out.
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

Host, Julie Forbes talks with author, Jon Katz about his book "Going Home: Finding Peace When Pets Die". This important conversation covers topics like euthanasia for aggression, the decision of when to let your pet pass and much more.
Loss of a pet and end of life decisions are very hard to be present to. The grief can feel overwhelming and it can get in our way to make decisions that best protect the pet. It's so important that in the presence of the intense grief and sorrow, that we are able to keep our pet's needs ahead of our own emotional needs.
