We hear a lot about Genetically Modified foods, or Genetically Modified Organisms – GMOs. But what exactly are they, and why should we bother worrying about them?
We would like to review what GMOs are with our listening audience, about how they are changing our relationship to food, and what we can do to take control of the types of foods we eat.
First, let’s answer the question; ‘what are genetically-modified foods?’
When you hear someone use the term, “Frankenfoods”, there’s a good reason. Genetically-modified foods take genetic material from one organism and put it into another. This gives the organism – plant or animal – characteristics that it didn’t have before, which your body will not recognize and to that end, will create a disease state.
What is a Genetically Modified Organism? Where did the come from? Tonight's episode will cover a quick history of GMO's and their roll in agriculture. I will also discuss their effects on the enviornment and our health.
We are seeing that the battle on labeling Genetically modified organism foods are going into effect next week. The question is, is it right for us to have them labeled as a consumer? Monsanto is one of the biggest threats to humanity and it is a right to have them labeled.
In this show, we will be talking about what is happening at Washington, what is the new findings about individuals who consume genetically modified foods and what can you do in order to petition into labeling these foods.

In the early 1980s, four chemical/pharmaceutical companies, Monsanto, Upjohn, Eli Lilly and American Cyanamid began researching a new technology they believed would revolutionize the dairy industry. Through genetic engineering, researchers created recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to increase milk production in dairy cows by 10 to 25 percent. The FDA approved Monsanto's rBGH product, Posilac, for commercial use on November 5, 1993. Monsanto leads the production of genetically modified seeds and commercial animal stock. Genetically modified food involves the introduction of foreign DNA into plants and animal using the methods of genetic engineering. Genetic modification techniques often involves incorporating bacterial DNA into plants and animals, thus changing their “blueprint” of existence. These changes are much different from selective breeding and mutation breeding. Genetically-modified foods (plants and animals) raise safety issues, environmental concerns, and economic concerns because:
genetically modified seeds & animals are subject to ownership by corporations,
original seeds and animals can be “contaminated” by genetically modified plants and animal and
no one knows the impact of genetically modified plants and animals on the future of the earth or the biology of those who consume them.
Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) which is a genetically engineered hormone that is injected into dairy cows every other week to force the cows to produce more milk causes problems that is adverse to milk consumers: Cows get mastitis(infections) in the udder causing pus / white blood cells to be expressed into the milk so that antibiotics used to treat mastitis and pus remain in the milk and drank by the consumer -YUM.
The onward movement towards improving health within the trucking industry continues. The Mid America Truck Show was the most recent example of the healthy awareness campaign as many within the industry came together to become educated and join forces to encourage others regarding solutions for healthier lifestyles.
Our continued series of health shows will include tonight the topic of GMO's ( genetically modified organisms). This is a topic which is causing concern as well as confusion. On this episode we want to cover the definitions of GMO, what constitutes a GMO, what are the health affects of GMO's, and how can we avoid them.
The term "eat organic" is many times associated when discussing eating healthy, including avoiding the harmful affects of genetically modified food, but often the term organic is also confusing. What constitutes "organic"?

Genetically Modified Organisms GMOs, altered by genetic modification of the seeds, can render consumers infertile and undermine their health. Genetic engineering develops seeds compatible with their brand of herbicide and/or for other traits. GMOs may cause deterioration of DNA, the immune system, the colon and other organs.
Join us on WEDNESDAY January 22 at 7:30 pm EST as we welcome Diana Reeves, founder of GMO Free USA to the show. We'll be having a great conversation about Eating Disorders, Obesity, and Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs).
This episode is especially important if you or your loved one suffers from obesity or an eating disorder such as anorexia, bulimia, bulimarexia, or binge eating disorder.
Hosted by Dr. J. Renae Norton, Clinical Psychologist and Director of The Norton Center of Eating Disorders and Obesity in Hyde Park, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) are a broad group of plants, animals, and bacteria that are engineered for a wide variety of applications ranging from agricultural production to scientific research. The types of potential hazards posed by GMO’s vary according to the type of organism being modified and its intended application. Most of the concern surrounding GMO’s relates to their potential for negative effects on the environment and human health. Because GMO’s that could directly effect human health are primarily products that can enter the human food supply, this website focuses on genetically modified food. To date, the only types of products that have been approved for human consumption in the U.S. are genetically modified plants (FDA website).
All genetically modified foods that have been approved are considered by the government to be as safe as their traditional counterparts and are generally unregulated (FDA website). However, there are several types of potential health effects that could result from the insertion of a novel gene into an organism. Health effects of primary concern to safety assessors are production of new allergens, increased toxicity, decreased nutrition, and antibiotic resistance (Bernstein et al., 2003). What are the latest developments in the world of GMOs? From GMO labeling laws, global outrage, corporate product pipelines, to the debacle over the Seralini study on human health risks, we will examine new aspects to the biotech business and their implications for the health and safety of consumers worldwide. We may know where we have been and we may know where we are in the midst of the genetically modified debate, but can we see where we are going?
The Homestead Honey Hour! http://prepperbroadcasting.com/ "From corn to soybeans, potatoes to peas, our food supply is being polluted with genetically modified organisms.. These Franken foods are pervasive in the American diet, and its not by accident. These foods are not only modified at the genetic level, but when consumed, research shows, theyre changing our own DNA. Join Katzcradul as she leads, what promises to be, a lively discussion on the effects of GMOs in our diet." The women of ‘The Homestead Honey Hour' have many things in common. What initially drew them together was they each had a YouTube channel, where they discussed homesteading, preparedness, and self-sufficiency. They have partnered on Prepper Broadcasting Network because they see an opportunity to share their skills and abilities with many, like themselves, who are preparing for whatever the future brings. Current situations, both social, economical and geo-political, require a ‘no-nonsense approach' to preparedness. These four ‘Homestead Honeys‘, Noreen, BexarPrepper, Katzcradul, and TheMrsVolfie, say “Bring it on!“, and are willing to lay down their, rolling pins, shovels, and canning jars, long enough to pass along sound information and answer some questions! So pull up a chair to their online kitchen table, pour yourself a glass of lemonade, and join the fun!
Troy Casey, the Certified Health Nut of certifiedhealthnut.com, joins us to talk to us about GMO (genetically modified organism) foods - a topic which is a hotbed of controversy in the health and fitness industry. We cover:
- What are GMOs, how they affect the agriculture industry and what risks they pose to humanity at large
- Where GMOs are most commonly found in the food industry.
- WHY people grow GMOs and seek profit at the expense of the health of others
- How we can counter the GMO revolution with our choice to support farmers rather than large industries
- What Troy Casey would do if he was let loose in the Monsanto Headquarters for an hour
Recent studies have shown that Genetically Modified foods GMO can cause digestive, liver and kidney problems. If used for a long period of time they can even cause cancer and can kill you. So why doesn't the federal government do something to protect us?
My guest this week is Mr. S.D. WELLS. He is a researcher and writer for Natural News and Mike Adams. He has been researching chemicals in foods, drinks, candy, gum, cosmetics, skin care products and even cigarettes for 20 years. Mr Wellas believes GMO is the most dangerous health risk ever, and "what you don't know will hurt you" is his slogan, because ignoring this risk doesn't make it go away, in fact, it makes it worse. GMO is pesticide, insecticide and herbicide inside your food and out. There is bug and weed killer inside corn, soy, canola, tobacco, alfalfa, beets (MSG) and Aspartame. Mr Wells is an expert on these and has written dozens of articles, a book, and have recorded skype videos with the Health Ranger, Mike Adams, Editor of NaturalNews. He runs the website at 14AndOut.com and several blog sites that expose more about chemicals in foods.
