    Special Guest March to May!

    in Music

Please join Miss Catherine as she welcomes in March to May!  When is the right time to take a chance?  Who are the right people?  What are the right conditions?  March to May was born under unusual circumstances.  Neither Darren nor Beth realized the musical potential they shared when they first met in December 2012.  It took several chance encounters -- passing vocal harmonies on a trip to the coast with friends, tentative instrumental work one cold winter evening, comments here and there on lyrics and melody -- before the spark hit.  But when it did, it didn't take long for them to catch fire.  By March 2013 they had co-written their first two songs, by April they had a paid gig under their belts, and by May they had a name and shows booked out into the months ahead.  Both halves of the duo are passionate about the music they write and play, and view March to May as a constant evolution; from pursuing collaborations with other artists (with styles ranging from classical to hip hop and electronica) and keeping an ear attuned to the myriad ways they can expand the range and expression of their own music, their primary interest is to keep the music fresh and personal.  And, above all, to keep love - love for the music, love for each other, love for the world they live in - at their core.

The chat room will be opened for questions and comments.  See you then!

    A Conversation With Peppi Garrett

    in Comedy

Comedian Just Peppi grew up at a mission rehab for drug addicts and alcoholics. Her dad wasn't just the mission's founder, but he was also a Baptist preacher. As if that environment wasn't enough to make her turn out a little bit "funny," she was also the attention deficit, hyper-active middle child. You know what it means to grow up on a drug rehab with ADHD, right? It means YOU AIN'T GONNA GET ANY MEDICINE! So, as you can imagine, any hope of turning out normal took a flying leap out the window! Then, throw in a name like "Peppi", and you’re just baking up one hilarious concoction!

Comedian Just Peppi is a stand-up comedian, writer, story teller, jokester, emcee, wife, mom of two young adult sons, and owner of one spastic dog named Oreo (who still doesn't laugh at any of her jokes). But mostly, she is a lover of Jesus Christ, the One Who gave her life purpose. Whoever knew it could be so much FUN?

Title: Alvin Garrett with Khally Smith on Iconic ATL Radio

    in Entertainment

The GRAMMY-NOMINATED songwriter/ producer, Alvin Garrett, was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, AL and now resides in Birmingham, AL.  Currently, Alvin has been making his mark on the R&B Charts with singles written and arranged for the Grammy Nominated Artist, Joe (“I Wanna Know,” “Stutter”).  The latest single blazing the charts is the song “Love & Sex Pt 2 feat Kelly Rowland.” The original version of the song featured Fantasia and performed very well on the charts. The hit single, “I’d Rather Have A Love,” written by Garrett and performed by Joe, also made noise on the Billboard Urban AC charts. Alvin received his Grammy nomination in 2012 for writing the song, “Bring Your Praise”, which was featured on Gospel Album of The Year nominee, Trin-i-tee 5:7. He also won a Stellar Award in 2012 for his contribution to Urban Gospel Album of the Year winner, Deitrick Haddon. His musical catalog includes placements and credits with The Bar-Kays, Ruben Studdard, Jarvis, Johnny Gill, Noel Gourdin, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Deitrick Haddon, Alexis Spight, Jordan Knight, Veshawn Mitchell, and a host of independent artists.

Along with his thriving career in the background as a songwriter, vocal arranger, and producer, Alvin Garrett has stepped out front in a very big way with his solo debut album, “Expose Yourself.” His single, “Never Gonna Find,” chronicles the emotions of a man that realizes that he’s found a love that is rare and needs to be preserved. Other songs such as “Make Love”, “To Be You With Me”, and “Let It Build” provide a sensual undertone for intimacy and relaxation.

The Alvin Garrett story is one that is still being written; and from the looks of it, we’re not even close to the climax. Stay tuned as the plot unfolds. #ExposeYourself
