    A Conversation With Peppi Garrett

    in Comedy

Comedian Just Peppi grew up at a mission rehab for drug addicts and alcoholics. Her dad wasn't just the mission's founder, but he was also a Baptist preacher. As if that environment wasn't enough to make her turn out a little bit "funny," she was also the attention deficit, hyper-active middle child. You know what it means to grow up on a drug rehab with ADHD, right? It means YOU AIN'T GONNA GET ANY MEDICINE! So, as you can imagine, any hope of turning out normal took a flying leap out the window! Then, throw in a name like "Peppi", and you’re just baking up one hilarious concoction!

Comedian Just Peppi is a stand-up comedian, writer, story teller, jokester, emcee, wife, mom of two young adult sons, and owner of one spastic dog named Oreo (who still doesn't laugh at any of her jokes). But mostly, she is a lover of Jesus Christ, the One Who gave her life purpose. Whoever knew it could be so much FUN?

Gary Heffern is our guest this week. Poet, Musician, Singer and Songwriter, Mentor to many and a friend to a thousand more....Unholy Dreams is a poetry collection just published of Gary's work."His remarkable spirit has shone forth through his words music, and by simply being a pilgrim following his soul - he's been telling his truth all along." Thank you for this quote about Gary Heffern by Jesse Sykes. Heffern: "If you don't want heartache, then don't have a heart. A heart ain't a heart until it's been torn apart it ain't love if it's a chore,,,,even the bull has compassion for the matador.."

Chris Nickson writes of Gary's life: "Gary Heffern knows the heart, how it breaks, how it can crack wide open with love, how it can heal. He knows all too well how fucked up life can be. He's been there, looked around, and taken the journey back . He's seen the sun, he's been soaked by tghe rain and he's felt the cold deep down in his bones. What he does is write about it with absolute honesty. This is truth, no masks, no pretense, no veils. He digs and digs until he finds the kernel of truth deep inside himself, then he holds it up. That's what these words are."

My favorites include 'hand of the devil,' 'well of sorrows,' 'untamed youth,' and too many others to write......Unholy Dreams is a monumental contribution to American poetry....Let's talk to the man!

March to May's Darren Guyaz & Beth Wesche (Indie/Folk/Acoustic)

    in Indie Music

Tonight, Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes March To May’s Darren Guyaz & Beth Wesche to the Show.

    www.marchtomay.com

March To May’s Darren Guyaz (guitar, vocals, keyboard) and Beth Wesche (Celtic harp, vocals)  first met in December 2012.  By March 2013, the folk/indie/Americana duo had co-written their first two songs, by April they had a paid gig under their belts, and by May they had a name and shows booked out into the months ahead. Before settling in Seattle, Washington, where the act is now based, both Darren and Beth had traversed the Western Hemisphere separately.  Darren migrated from the northern Appalachians to his birth-state of Montana, before heading on a South American adventure across the Andes mountain range, eventually falling in love with Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.  The daughter of a US Foreign Service Officer, Beth also spent time in the Andes, as well as a host of US states on both coasts, before moving to Seattle, just blocks from where her beloved Celtic harp had been created, years before.  The duo has drawn comparisons to acts like The Civil Wars, Damien Rice, the Swell Season, The Banner Days, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
