We have recieved the gift of grace in the person of Jesus Christ . This means that we acknowledged our guilt of sin against Our Holy God and believed on Jesus to be the one and only begotten Son to save us from our sins . We did not give up our sinful lifestyle for this eternal life , which was freely given , freely recieved and was a free gift . Salvation is the free gift of God and the Holy Spirit is our Stamped approval for eternity . So why do some go around acting like its a reward of some kind for being a good person or changed person ? We hear so many people saying we must do this or we must not do that . Are we not His ? Did He not buy us with His blood ? Yes there will be rewards in Heaven but salvation will not be one of them . No we only get to recieve the gift of salvation as we live our lives on this earth and it is only by God's mercy and grace and Himself drawing us to Himself . Just like we can not expect to be perfect as we repent before we are saved . We can not be perfect as we live out the Christian life as well . That is until we get to our full glory after we take our last breath on this earth . When we put our trust and joy in Jesus Christ , we will see abundant change in our lives . This will give us lots of peace and joy no matter what our circumstances . This is sort of a reward for obedience . However certainly our salvation is not based on obedience . It is based on all of what He did for us . His name is Jesus and we have to stop adding to His finished work !
