    Kyle Eastwood

    in Entertainment

    October 16 - Bassist/Composer - Kyle Eastwood

Among other things, Kyle Eastwood comes from a musical family.  Both parents, Clint Eastwood and Maggie Johnson, played the piano; and, his maternal grandmother taught music at Northwestern University.  So, I guess one can say that his entry into the realm of music was inevitable.

Accompanied by a London-based crew of stellar young musicians, Eastwood and company blend infectious grooves and outstanding improvisations throughout eleven diverse tracks on The View From Here. “They’re all really talented players,” says Eastwood, “and we’ve been playing together for a while now, developing a real band chemistry. We ended up writing a lot of these new tunes together either at rehearsals or out on the road during last year’s tour around Europe. Sometimes I would come up with a couple of ideas or Andrew might bring something in, then everybody would just add on to it after that.”

Kyle's latest CD, The View From Here, is as true to the genre, and culture of Jazz as one can get in these modern times.  The pulsating rhythms being extracted from his band's acoustic instruments, are not only pure and exact, but seem to represent a symbolic life source for both the band, and its listeners.

Dr. Francesca Gino on how to make wise decisions and stick to them

    in Psychology

Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.

*NOTE: "Best Of" replay (because I was away at a psych conference). New live show next week.

Adorably, we humans see ourselves as rational animals. Research shows us to be anything but.

We are swayed in ways we wouldn’t expect in both our decision-making and how well we stick to our plans.

The good news is, the research also shows that our going off track happens in predictable ways. My guest tonight, Harvard Business School professor, Dr. Francesca Gino, will both lay out the forces that sidetrack us as we’re trying to accomplish our goals and offer guidelines that we can use to keep ourselves on track.

Dr. Gino will be discussing her recently-published book, Sidetracked: Why Our Decisions Get Derailed, and How We Can Stick to the Plan. Join us tonight and have your eyes opened about the psychological, social, and environmental stumbling blocks that keep us from getting where we want to go.

Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. Pacific Time, 10-11 p.m. Eastern Time, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

Please buy my science-based but funny book about why people are rude and how to change things, "Good Manners for Nice People Who Sometimes Say F*ck."

And please ask a newspaper near you to carry my award-winning syndicated, science-based advice column...if they don't already.

Sharpton on hunger strike! NOT! - Marriage a human right?

    in Politics

Hr1  UK welfare bride who is too fat to work says taxpayers should pay $15k for her wedding. It's a human right!

Woman passed over for a job due to inappropriate attire. Judgement is one of those skills you need to land a job, that includes in your attire & how you handle criticism. The only way this woman is going to land a job now is by getting a face transplant after posting a profanity-laced rant on social media.

Hr2   Millennials, common sense, and entitlements. Do you hire people in the millennial generation?

Ben Carson says he and Rev. Al Sharpton have the same goal for America. Ben is either naive and trying to give Sharpton the benefit of the doubt or completely oblivious. Either way, he's not equipped to be president!

Only in California would legislators declare a state of emergency after dumping perfectly good, clean water into the ocean in order to save an un-endangered bait fish! We should have been capturing that water for years. Now we have a man-made dust bowl, courtesy of the California Legislature. Genius!

Hr3  Ohio public school hosts “Covered Girl Challenge” asks students to wear a hijab for a day. Do you think it's ok? Do you think they'll also challenge students to wear a yarmulke? A cross? A priest's robe? A Sikh dastaar? Doubtful.

Rev. Al Sharpton launches hunger strike to get Loretta Lynch AG confirmation.

Out-of-state students at UVA and UMD were asked if they would be willing to give up their U.S. citizenship to become “undocumented students” so their tuition would be $80k less. Think they did it? Yep!

Scott Eastwood reveals what Clint Eastwood was like as a father, Old school upbringing.

And now, the California legislature is working to provide medical for illegals. Why?

Francesca McCartney Shares How Our 21 Senses Enhance Intuition To Improve Health

    in Spirituality

In this 55th episode of the Healthy Wild And Free podcast I speak with Francesca McCartney, she has a PhD in Energy Medicine. Since 1976, Dr. McCartney has worked in the field of intuition as a medical intuitive in an integrative health clinic, a holistic health counselor, author and educator. In 1984, Dr. McCartney founded the Academy of Intuition Medicine® the first California State licensed vocational program in the field of Energy Medicine that trains Medical Intuitives. We discuss the 16 senses beyond the 5 senses that we use on a daily basis, and how quieting our 5 senses creates space in our consciousness to unlock other senses to improve intuitive capabilities.  When our intuitive capabilities are improved we make better decisions, eat smarter and are more in tune with what our body needs at any given time, whether it's rest, water, nutrition or some dark chocolate! (yum)

    Thank you for tuning in!
