For the first time since the 2015 Formula One season started, the winner of last year’s trophy for the most pole positions, Nico Rosberg, made pole at the Formula One Grand Prix in Barcelona at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. Rosberg was clearly happy, and remarked, "It's just important for the race because it's better to start first than second obviously. Psychologically, yeah, it's good. Feels great. I'm happy." Once again, the Mercedes AMG team has shown speed and reliability on the track. 2014 champion and the season leader, Lewis Hamilton, will start second.
Meanwhile, the comeback of Ferrari, lead by Sebastian Vettel will start third, Valtteri Bottas with Williams-Martini, fourth. Surprisingly, Toro Rosso driver, Carlos Sainz Jr., did not disappoint Spanish fans when he qualified fifth. Unfortunately, their Formula One hero Fernando Alonso could not get the McLaren-Honda into Q3 and Max Verstappen sixth Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen was seventh and Red Bull Daniil Kvyat was eighth.
The pressure will be on for Nico Rosberg with a mix of high and low speed corners, his teammate Lewis Hamilton, will be right up on his gearbox, with Sebastian Vettel, in search of another championship, seconds behind.

Sunday’s Formula One Grand Prix in Shanghai China was off to a great start, with champion race leader, Lewis Hamilton on pole. Fresh off the starting line behind Lewis was Rosberg and Vettel. By lap 12, the top seven on the track were Hamilton, Rosberg, Vettel, Raikkonen, Massa, Grosjean and Verstappen.
Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen, the youngest driver in Formula One, out drove the big bad Red Bulls, until lap 54 when he suffered a DNF in what appeared to be, gearbox failure. Unfortunately, the safety car was deployed. The race was finished under the safety car with a Mercedes 1-2, lead by Lewis Hamilton who won comfortably crossed the finish line first, Rosberg second, Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen third and fourth respectively. Coming in fifth was Williams-Martini driver Felipe Massa, with teammate Valtteri Bottas close behind in sixth. A great surprise for the Lotus team when Romain Grosjean, came in seventh. The Sauber garage was quite jubilant when, both of their drivers finished in the top ten. In another star-studded podium interview, the great Olympian runner, Edwin Moses, conducted the interview with Hamilton, Vettel and Rosberg, just as Arnold Schwarzeneggar did at the Australian Grand Prix. The thorn in Mercedes side this season will be Ferrari, and the thorn in Ferrari’s side, will be Williams.

Opening season for Formula One got off to an exciting start in Melbourne, Australia. Two-time world champion kicked off the start of the weekend by grabbing the pole position. His teammate and closest rival, Nico Rosberg locked out the second position for a one-two Mercedes front row, for Sunday’s race. Teenage rookie, Max Verstappen was impressive on the track and made the top ten. However, the much anticipated McLaren-Honda debut was disappointing to fans and drivers, who had high expectations for the return of Honda in Formula One. Jenson Button did his best, and Fernando Alonso was still out for medical reasons.
Red Bull lead driver Daniel Ricciardo will start in seventh position, while his former teammate, four-time champion Sebastian Vettel, will start fourth. Ferrari seems poised; to give Williams and Red Bull a fight this season
In more drama and woes on and off the track for Manor, formally Marussia, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi never made it onto the track for qualifying. While Sauber has been embroiled with a lawsuit over, which driver has a right to a seat, for the 2015 season? We will have additional details on the drama of both teams in the Xiro Xone F1 Report, on Sunday.
