Host Kharisma Aro welcomes Kato Hitson, Author, Speaker and College Athletic Recruiter to her show episode, A Journey of Forgiveness: Forgiving the Man Who Took My Mother's Life.
Kato Hitson, a former football player, has had a great career in the CFL playing with Toronto Argo and Ottawa Redbacks, followed by a free agent contract to play in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams. He was All-Region and all state at Valdosta High School in Georgia and was a member of a National All-Championship squad in 1992. Hitson Played at Georgia Military College for 2 Years and was All-American in 1994-95. He transferred to Murray State University and won back to back conference championships in 1995-96
In addition to his success with Football, Kato has had over 10 years’ experience in the Juvenile Justice system. These experiences ranged from working directly with patients exhibiting severe mental disturbances to dealing with the adjustment of life. During that time, he established a program called “Open Mic” which allowed residents to verbally express themselves to family members.
Kato has overcame many obstacles, a tragic past of witnessing his mother being shot to death, along with physical and mental abuse that many would not be able to bare. His adversity which has been identified on social media has become a testimony and a blessing to all. A statement that explains his journey the best: “My Success loves Adversity…”
With his background and expertise, Kato is currently fulfilling his passion and purpose as an author, speaker and college athletic recruiter. Kato has 3 wonderful children: “Everything that I have and will accomplish is dedicated to three women which has molded me to be the Man of God I am today, My mother, the late Lorraine Hitson, Sister Kiesler Russell and my grandmother the late Aleen Blake.”
