Host Barbara Ehrentreu presents a very special show of Red River Radio Tales from the Pages on Thursday, March 26th at 4PM EST. It isn't ofen my listeners get to hear an experienced radio host and today my guest is J. Todd Underhill. J. Todd Underhill started his broadcasting career back in 1994 while he was still in college and continued pursuing both his radio career and his poetry until the present. He has been an announcer for both wrestling and race cars as well as an MC for several poetry cafes in the Denver area. His passion has always been poetry and he has published three books, Partners in Rhyme with Georgia based poet Amanda Norton,Tome I: Genesis  and Tome II : Genesis. His exuberant personality and his talent have created along with his co-broadcasters, Michael Amidei and JT Gunter, a place for any poet to read and have his or her poetry appreciated without judgement. World Open Mic:  http://www.worldpoetryopenmic.net creates a platform for poets all over the world. As you can see I am very excited to bring this unique and talented poet to my listeners. I am a big fan of the show and I just started listening a few months ago. The camaraderie of the poets who convene on Friday nights to listen to and read poetry is unique. Through World Poetry Open Mic I have met some very talented and prolific poets. One of these poets who has inspired me and who also is an author with many years of both teaching experience and writing poetry is Cynthia Sharp. Cynthis lives in British Columbia, Canada and I am also very excited to bring her to my listeners. Cynthia's book How to Write Poetry:  http://www.amazon.com/How-Write-Poetry-Resource-Students-ebook/dp/B00PPYC8N8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425857850&sr=8-1&keywords=How+to+Write+Poetry+by+Cynthia+Sharp excellent for both novice and experienced poets. Recap of Cops Brutally Beating Floyd Dent in Inkster, MI

Fighting back tears, a Detroit man and longtime auto worker with no criminal history, described how Inkster police officers dragged him from his car one night in January, choked him, beat him and Tasered him during a traffic stop that was caught on patrol car video.

"He was beating me upside the head," Floyd Dent, 57, told a horde of reporters and TV crews during a press conference at his attorney's office Wednesday afternoon, as tears trickled his cheeks. "I was trying to protect my face with my right arm. I heard one of them say, 'tase the M...F. '"

The Jan. 28 incident was caught on police video cameras and is making national news. It shows Inkster police pulling over Dent in his 2011 tan Cadillac near South River Park Drive and Inkster Drive shortly before 10 p.m. The two officers approach with their guns drawn. As Dent opens the door, they pull him out and shove him to the ground. Dent does not appear in the video to be resisting arrest.

As he is on the ground, a police officer later identified as William Melendez has him in a choke hold, and is repeatedly pounding him on his head. A second officer is attempting to handcuff him behind his back, but Dent has his right arm up, trying to protect his face and head against Melendez.

Another officer arrives and kicks him, and then another officer Tasers Dent in the thigh and stomach as he is handcuffed. Dent, who has worked for Ford for 37 years, said he was hospitalized for two days for injuries to his face and head.

Indie Cafe & Red Velvet Media ; Eilon Paz, Dust & Grooves !

    in Entertainment

Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting is an inside look into the world of vinyl record collectors in the most intimate of environments—their record rooms. It all started out several years ago as nothing more than a way for photographer Eilon Paz to make use of his idle hours. Adrift in Brooklyn after emigrating from Israel, Eilon—a record collector on the side—thought it might be fun to start taking photos of people whose record collections were both larger and weirder than his own.

Adopting this as his personal project, he began traveling the world, from Australia to Cuba and Argentina to Ghana, in pursuit of intriguing and memorable subjects. Unearthing the very soul of the vinyl community, the assembly of portraits he created quickly turned into the Dust & Grooves website.

In the summer of 2012, Eilon launched a Kickstarter campaign that funded his road trip to shoot collectors throughout the American heartland, and since then, the project has been embraced by many friends and supporters who have volunteered to work with Eilon along the way. This year, Dust & Grooves expands even further, complementing the website’s cloud with a physical book that profiles over 130 vinyl collectors with photographic essays and in-depth interviews.

Dust & Grooves has engaged and connected the underground community of record collectors. As well as becoming a go-to place for vinyl lovers, it maintains the integrity and history of vinyl, as well as the musical heritage that goes along with every record in these collections. As technology moves forward and many music formats go digital, Eilon’s endeavor helps keep the rich, warm, analog life of vinyl spinning.
