    Broken, Mended, Made Whole

    in Christianity

Isaiah 57:15 says this,  For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite. And the truth be known,  God loves us so much he will allow us to hit our rock bottom if it means finding Him. Sometimes I must get honest with myself and say I at times don't really want to be broken. Somehow that just sounds like losing or second best, our flesh gets in the way and says we don't need fixing, mending, trials, suffering or difficultiies to help us draw close to Almighty God. The real question is where will I go to get answers for my own brokenness? Because true colors are revealed when we go through those fiery trials of life. They let us know where we stand in our faith in God and where we are in our walk with Him. It often leaves us spiritually naked and in need of more than we can offer ourselves. We turn to other vices to help sooth the pain such as alcohol, drugs or ography. When God only wants whats best for us he will at times allow pain and difficulty to deepen our relationship with Him and be broken, mended and made whole....Thats His plan.

    Fixing American Government

    in Politics Progressive

Interview with Jerrery Orenstein, Ph.D.author "Fixing American Government"  published January, 2015.
American government is broken. There is gridlock in Washington and in many state capitals and voters are apathetic and angry. Democracy is under siege by the corrupting influence of money in politics and by those who put ideological purity ahead of good public policy. How did this happen? What can we do about it?Fixing American Government is one political scientist-turned-journalist’s answer. It analyzes the roots of the problem and prescribes remedies that are practical and consistent with American political culture and traditions. It is a must-read for political activists of any stripe, citizens who care about our political system and those who want to see American government work again.

As we look at our nation at Valentine’s Day, 2105, we observe that today’s United States of America has evolved to be far more democratic than it was in 1787, with the enfranchisement of women, the abolition of property qualifications for voting and the direct election of the Senate as democratic milestones. There is clear and present evidence that this partial democratic evolution has been a major factor in the nation’s greatness and appeal.

Precisely because the elements of democracy that we do possess in our political system has stood us in such good stead, we should continue our evolution toward perfecting our system of government by becoming even more democratic than we are. We need to eliminate malapportionment, equalize the voices of those who are not billionaires and think long and hard about the meaning of the term general election, for starters.
