Ah, love... falling in love is so blissful. Everything is enchanting, and life seems grand. But, one day you realize that the person is flawed, just like you. What do you do? You try to change the person, you bitch and complain, and you do all the things rather than what is really needed; Get rid of the person.
Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. WE don't have to separate, at least not permanently.
Happiness comes from your specific perspective on the world - how you see the past, the present, and the future. To live in the present, you must accept the past; make peace with it. Find whatever you can to be grateful for the experience and then free yourself to enjoy life in the present. Allow yourself to be amazed and awed by the mystery of the world and the universe happening around you.
Have a "happiness checkup". Be bold enough to ask yourself, “Am I happy? If you are not happy, confront yourself on how you feel about your past experiences; are you living in the present, and do you dream about the future? Are you taking care of yourself? Do you eat right? Are you sleeping enough? Do you exercise? Are you in need of a healthy relationship or good networking acquaintances?
Dig deeply to access your feelings; stop just be going along for the ride. Look for challenges each day and very aware of what is going on around you; get mentally engaged in your life. You must have something to feel passionate about; something that peaks your interest. If your lack of happiness is due to dynamics of your relationships, ask yourself, “What am I bringing into the relationship?” Am I contributing to the relationship in a manner that nurtures it and helps it stay alive and grow? Be prepared to do something about what is lacking.
Anticipate the future with excitement. Death is the only thing that will stop Tomorrow from coming so participate in making it wonderful. Set yourself up for success by planning good things that are doable: "Tomorrow I’m going to do something nice for somebody. Tomorrow I’m going to get focused on a project I’ve been waiting to do. Tomorrow I will register for a class."
Happiness will find you if you are at peace with the past; be engaged in the present and excited about the future.
