Now let’s get a few things straight about the Mittleider Method.
We all have favorite ways of doing things.  Sometimes we do things out of habit, sometimes it’s just the way we learned from others and don’t know any different.
Sometimes people don’t want to know a better way of doing things for one or more of several reasons: 1) It takes time and energy to learn, 2) It challenges tradition, 3) There’s money, equipment and other resources invested in the status quo, 4) Most people just naturally resist change, 5) Some folks are just by nature a naysayer and will not warm up to anything, 6) But probably the hardest to over come is the pride of ownership, call it the “Not invented here syndrome.”  It comes right down not wanting to admit that there might be something you didn’t know, and someone else figured it out.
Take gardening for instance.  There are many different methods that people use.  One public detractor of the Mittleider System announces “The six reasons I don’t use the Mittleider System”.  In this session with the Family Garden Doctor, Jim Kennard uses those 6 supposed negative reasons to explain his six reasons why you absolutely should use the Mittleider System.
Besides, it’s hard to try and reinvent the wheel and challenge the success record of what Dr. Mittleider accomplished: a 37 year track record in 27 countries with over 75 major growing projects including several agricultural schools.  He improved the economy of families, communities and countries.  One wise person said, “A man with experience is never at the mercy of a man with a theory”.

Everywhere last year I looked in our small town in Missouri peoples gardens are dry and dying. Tomato plants are typically about 18" tall, a gray-green color, and any fruit is small and green.

The drought has decimated most family gardens, unless the people have had access to reliable water and hand-watered regularly.

    Hows YOUR garden doing?

    J. R. Mittleiders great book Lets Grow Tomatoes tells you all you need to know about growing tomatoes. After reading AND APPLYING the principles and procedures outlined so well in this book you will be the community expert, just as Wally & Victoria Roth are in Central Oregon (see victoriasvegetables.com) .

Family Garden Doctor Host: Jim Kennard
In this program Jim Kennard, the show host will also be the instructor. To some Mr. Kennard makes an astounding claim – if you will learn what he has to teach you and follow his instruction, you can increase you garden yield by ten times!
    Outrageous?
Listen to what he has to say, go to the Food For Everyone web site to learn all that you can and then put him to the test.
What if he's right? This is one bet you really want to loose. Even if you only get five times the yield, you still win and win again. Learn more about gardening the Mittleider Way at www.foodforeveryone.org and www.growfood.com.

Garden Tower Project, and, some Tidbit information of others

    in Gardening

    Greetings!

If you just saw on the PBS TV Show "StartUp" the group from Indiana called the "Garden Tower Project" who does Vertical Gardens, well, next week they are in the house for my expanded Radio Show "Community Garden".  Check them out on www.blogtalkradio.com/communitygarden

These folks have a Vertical Garden that has growing space for 50 plants, in a four sq.ft. footprint.  You can do several in a warehouse building or other site and start selling to Distributors where you live, your local Grocery stores, or, sell at a Farmers Market.  If I remember correctly, they state a 10,000 sq.ft. space of these "Garden Tower Project" Vertical Gardens is comparable to having 5 acres of land to grow product.  Now, that is a substantial savings and allows more folks to get in the market to grow and sell FRESHLY grown items.  Grow Local.  Eat Local.

Join us at that show next week.....for this week I will wet your taste buds and entice you to listen to the masters at the "Garden Tower Project".

Also, I have some great tidbit information today that is what is going on in America.

    Thanks!

Have a Great Community Garden Day!
