Today’s Discussion: Issues of Life-What do I tell my children? There are so many questions that are being asked by our children and young adults regarding the moral standards of our society, in our churches and even within our own family structure that need to be addressed with truth and honesty, yet we shrink away from the responsibility of discussing the issues of life that are affecting us all one way or another.  It’s past time that we have an open discussion and be prepared when you are asked about things that may be unpleasant or controversial.  What do you tell your children?

WOI Families Matter Special: A Fresh Approach to the Issue of Bullying

    in Family

Welcome to BlogTalkRadio's Featured World of Ink Network. Today (Wed. July 29, 2015) hosts Virgina S Grenier and Traci McDonald will be talking about bullying and its impact on society with Fawn Einarson-Nielsen, President of Hear My Heart Books Inc. (HMHB). Hear My Heart Books Inc. is incorporated in the province of Saskatchewan to focus on social entrepreneurship initiatives. They create and publish resources for children living in crisis and difficult life circumstances.Learn more at http://hearmyheartbooks.ca/

Fawn is also the author of the children's book, Spots, Dots...and the Nots?! This important story presents a real-life review of how bullying impacts society.  When the RED Spots and WHITE Dots come together to exclude the Nots, they create more and more PINK Nots.

    The story:

    teaches kids about human rights,
reinforces that we are all who we are meant to be,
    builds dialogue around inclusion,
provides support to the bully, victim and bystander,
    reinforces positive, respectful behaviour, and
reminds us that we all have a choice to exclude (which increases anger and unhappiness) or practice inclusion (where everyone can flourish and grow).

Watch out! Seniors with Dysfunctional Families

    in Caregiving

When adult children with aging loved ones start working the family on planning for the future they comment, “On, this will be interesting because my family does not get along”.  This is a red flag that this family maybe dealing with dysfunction from their earlier years.  There may have been the presence of alcohol, emotional distance, unclear boundaries and a lack of communication.  As a friend explained her childhood, “It was like walking on eggshells.”

A functional family can more easily address the decline of their parent because they were raised to solve problems a group.  They communicate well, that does not mean they can place their parent in an assisted living without emotions.

This radio segment will delve into the traits of functional and dysfunctional families along with solutions for families caring for their senior.

Today’s Discussion: All in the Family: Secret Lives, Deceit and Lies!

What skeletons hide in your family closet?  Those things that we don’t want  others to know, sometimes even our own family members because we’re ashamed, embarrassed and disgusted by the actions and deeds that have occurred in our past from people in our generational blood line or even from the mistakes that we have made when we were young and foolish.  What do we do? Should we talk about it, remain silent or act like it never happened?
