companies and expatriates (individuals who work abroad) with cross-cultural training,
expediting their VISA documentation, and inform clients of their transition with lessons
Although Ms. Kendrick transitioned out of the engineering industry, she prepares the
next generation by teaching construction management and business courses in efforts
to prepare students of the upcoming challenges of having to produce the same quality
with less time, cost, and experience.

In addition to a degree from George Washington University, focusing on International Relations, Heather studied at the London School of Economics, La Sorbonne, and Centro di Cultura Italiana in Italy. Her first business was Heather’s Handbags®, created roughly 10 years ago. She has served on the Board of Directors of The International Coach Federation since 2009, and recently became President of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce’s Business Referral Group (BRG1). She periodically volunteers with the ASPCA, and with Big Apple Greeter, giving foreign tourists a New Yorker’s perspective of The Big Apple.

The emergence of significant Diasporas has in recent years brought into sharp focus two key facts. First, there is a large expatriate population of skilled people from emerging economies in the developed world. Second, overseas communities can constitute a significant resource for the development of the countries of origin. The movement of the high skilled and low skilled workers from less to more developed economies and back opens several new opportunities for development. To view the Diaspora only through the looking glass of remittances and financial flows is to take a myopic view. Not all expatriates need to be investors and their development impact measured only in terms of financial contributions to the home country.
