CRARN is a charity group with headquarters in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and a registered charity in the United States of America. The killings were a re-enactment of the “Inquisition” and the “Salem witch trials.” The killings were organized by different groups of irate and unemployed youths who formed themselves into different cult groups carrying out what they called “witch cleansing” with the backing of some influential politicians and religious leaders. No fewer than 600 people were killed within a space of two months, while thousands fled their homes.
