Evita M. Castine is a writer, director, producer, production designer, photographer and actress. She is the daughter of a venture capitalist and an artist. Her love of the written word and all things visual has taken her from her small town upbringing to cities across the world. She holds a M.A. in journalism from the University of Iowa and she is currently working on her M.F.A. in Production with an emphasis on directing at the University of Southern California School of Cinema. Her work has been published in several anthologies and publications. She began her career as a page at NBC in Burbank and went on to have stints at Access Hollywood and RKO Pictures where she worked in development. She was brought on to develop writers in emerging economies at the Foundation for International Film Artists where she administered the prestigious Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Prize: she was sent to Russia, Poland, France, Czech Republic to develop writers with the likes of Syd Field and Irvin Kershner.
During this time that she worked behind the scenes, she also trained as an actress and began to develop projects for herself and her friends. She was inspired by seeing the many writers she worked with all over the world, making their films and presenting them to a global audience at different festivals. What resonated with her was that many of the stories were personal, culturally specific, and they resonated with so many people because of their Universal Themes.

The Speed of Trust is a book I read a few years back and it helped me see the importance of trust in every relationship. Today's show features a short talk by the author Stephen M. R. Covey where he shares just the highlights of how critical trust really is in your life and mine.
Some of the authors quotes (from his book) include:
“Over time, I have come to this simple definition of leadership: Leadership is getting results in a way that inspires trust.”
“I know it is possible not only to restore trust but to actually enhance it. The difficult things that we go through with the important people in our lives can become fertile ground for the growth of enduring trust – trust that is actually stronger because it’s been tested and proved through challenge...
“One of the fastest ways to restore trust is to make and keep commitments – even very small commitments – to ourselves and to others.
“The reality is that everybody makes mistakes. The issue isn’t whether you will make them, it’s what you will do about them. It’s whether you will choose the path of humility and courage or the path of ego and pride.”
“When you make a commitment to yourself, do so with the clear understanding that you’re pledging your integrity.”
“How does humility manifest itself in leadership and in life? A humble person is more concerned about what is right than about being right, about acting on good ideas than having the ideas, about embracing new truth than defending outdated position, about building the team than exalting self, about recognizing contribution than being recognized for making it.”
