Evita M. Castine is a writer, director, producer, production designer, photographer and actress. She is the daughter of a venture capitalist and an artist. Her love of the written word and all things visual has taken her from her small town upbringing to cities across the world. She holds a M.A. in journalism from the University of Iowa and she is currently working on her M.F.A. in Production with an emphasis on directing at the University of Southern California School of Cinema. Her work has been published in several anthologies and publications. She began her career as a page at NBC in Burbank and went on to have stints at Access Hollywood and RKO Pictures where she worked in development. She was brought on to develop writers in emerging economies at the Foundation for International Film Artists where she administered the prestigious Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Prize: she was sent to Russia, Poland, France, Czech Republic to develop writers with the likes of Syd Field and Irvin Kershner.
During this time that she worked behind the scenes, she also trained as an actress and began to develop projects for herself and her friends. She was inspired by seeing the many writers she worked with all over the world, making their films and presenting them to a global audience at different festivals. What resonated with her was that many of the stories were personal, culturally specific, and they resonated with so many people because of their Universal Themes.

Smoke, religion at center of Seneca pot case
Blue Mountain Eagle (Oregon)
Defense attorneys cite religious freedom in seeking dismissal of the case.
CANYON CITY – The 13 pot plants seized in a Seneca drug bust last June were either an illegal marijuana grow or a sacramental garden.
That contradiction set the stage last Thursday in Grant County Circuit Court as attorneys argued whether marijuana charges against Joy Maxine Graves and Raymond Scott Martin should stand.
Attorneys for Graves and Martin have moved to dismiss the case, contending it conflicts with their clients’ right to religious freedom. The defendants claim marijuana is an earth-based sacrament central to the rites of their branch of the Oklevueha Native American Church.
Deputy District Attorney Matthew Ipson countered that the state law prohibiting marijuana grows within 1,000 feet of a school is “a statute of general applicability.”
In court filings, he argued the state’s interest in restricting marijuana near schools is compelling, and that “the statute is applied equally without regard to religious beliefs or affiliation.”

Tonight your host Bill Bachman interviews David M. Rountree and Robbi Lunt, co-authors of 'Demon Street USA'. David began his research into the paranormal professionally in 1976, and has investigated cases scientifically from Rhode Island to Key West, Florida. David has experimented with both scientific as well as metaphysical techniques in his study of unexplained occurrences. Over the course of his research he was able to confirm EVP was not related to sound by the use of a Bell Jar, a vacuum pump, a Shure dynamic microphone and a TEAC A-4010S Reel to Reel recorder. Due to several encounters of a very negative nature from 1985-87, he made the decision to concentrate on the scientific research concerning the phenomena, and not the metaphysical aspects of the events. In 1992 David formed a new organization, Scientific Paranormal Investigative Research Information and Technology (S.P.I.R.I.T.), and began a long and painstaking process of collecting, building and focusing a battery of hi-tech instrumentation to concentrate on laboratory and field experimentation to search for the cause of paranormal phenomena. By 1998 his focus of research had narrowed to phenomena specific to “Hauntings”. Robbie is an Arcanologist, Certified Entertainment Electrician and Certified Technology Specialist currently residing in Washoe Valley, NV. He is a proud member of The Way of Nature fellowship. He has had over 20 years of doing energy work in both Tai Chi and Reiki. When he’s not doing research or haunting a theatre, if you search hard enough, you might find him kayaking or skiing in the Sierra Nevadas.
