Our guests this morning are Michael and Royce Morales, proprietors of Harmony Works located on Catalina Avenue in Riviera Village.
Michael Morales was born in Inglewood and attended Santa Monica College where he majored in Art. He has been a Massage Therapist for the last 28 years. He is very active in the community having served as President of the Riviera Village Association for 14 years, Chairman of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce (2009-2010) and Chairman of the Chamber’s Economic Development Council. He also sits on the Chamber’s Government Relations Council, the Tourism Committee, the Executive Board of the Redondo Beach Roundtable, the board of the South Bay Area Chambers of Commerce and on the South Bay Workforce Investment Board
Royce Morales was born in West Los Angeles and attended Cal State Northridge where she received her B.A. in art. She is the founder, developer and director of the Perfect Life Awakening course, an accelerated “inner-makeover” teaching that offers self-development, communication and life skills. Her teachings have been brought to thousands of people since 1977. In 1994, out of her passionate involvement with ecology, art and spirituality, Royce created Harmony Works, an eclectic, trailblazing, green retail shop and hand-craft gallery.
This morning we’re going to discuss Third Thursdays which takes place on the third Thursday of every month in Riviera Village and it’s my understanding that Royce & Michael were instrumental in putting together this popular event.

Tonight on Deepertruth, Cynthia Morales, will give her conversion back to the Catholic Faith. Currently, Cynthia works at Prolife Champions which is a non-profit media production company. They recently produced the documentary “The 40 Film”. Dr. Day Gardner of this movie states, “The 40 Film is a provocative game changer in support of life.” This works was not always what Cynthia Morales believed. Tonight, Cynthia will give her story of conversion leading her back to the Catholic Faith.
“Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus, whom the heavens must receive until the times of universal restoration of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old.” Acts 3:19-21
We are all called to follow the Lord in all that we are and I think this is why conversion stories are so important to many of us. They offer hope in times of despair. Because we are living in an evil age, St. Paul writes, ”And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.” Romans 1:28
Even so, St. John is clear, “But to those who did accept him he gave the power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.” John 1:12
John and Cynthia Morales will be joining me to talk about a very important pro-life film that they have produced.
Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001) was an American singer, dancer, actress, and model. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 10, she appeared on the television show Star Search and performed in concert alongside Gladys Knight. At age 12, Aaliyah signed with Jive Records and her uncle Barry Hankerson's Blackground Records. After Hankerson signed a distribution deal with Jive Records, he signed Aaliyah to his Blackground Records label at the age of 12. Hankerson later introduced her to recording artist and producer R. Kelly, who became Aaliyah's mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of the album, which was recorded when she was 14. With the release of Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, rumors circulated of a relationship between Aaliyah and R. Kelly. Shortly after, there was speculation about a secret marriage with the release of "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" and the adult content that Kelly had written for Aaliyah. On August 25, 2001, Aaliyah and the eight others on board—pilot Luis Morales III, hair stylist Eric Forman, Anthony Dodd, security guard Scott Gallin, video producer Douglas Kratz, stylist Christopher Maldonado, and Blackground Records employees Keith Wallace and Gina Smith—were all killed. After the service, 22 white doves were released to symbolize each year of Aaliyah's life. Aaliyah was interred in a private room at the end of a corridor in the Rosewood Mausoleum at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York. The inscription at the bottom of Aaliyah's portrait at the funeral read: "We Were Given a Queen, We Were Given an Angel."

Don’t tell Antoine Fuqua that Denzel Washington’s playing, well, Denzel Washington in their new flick together, The Equalizer. Instead, the director—who made his name making Denzel over as a bad boy in 2001’s Training Day—wants you to feel that his superstar collaborator is nothing more than a working stiff. “He’s reluctant hero. He’s a guy who has issues—OCD, post-traumatic stress, he can’t sleep at night. He’s not slick in any way,” Antoine tells Keeping It Reel with Film Gordon correspondent Wilson Morales. “When we did a dress rehearsal, and we were just tryin’ on shirts and stuff, he walked out and my cameramen were standin’ there waitin’ for Denzel and—literally—they didn’t know he’d already walked out was standin’ there waitin’ for us. They didn’t recognize him. He’s a cameleon.” The Equalizer, which opens Sept. 26, tells the story of a former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life, but comes out of his retirement to rescue a young girl.
This week on the BIG show, Black Reel Award winning director, Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Replacement Killers, Tears of the Sun, King Arthur, Shooter, Brooklyn's Finest and Olympus Has Fallen) returns to talk about his latest film, The Equalizer. Fuqua discusses reuniting with Denzel Washington and their plans to remake a classic western. Plus, we'll recap the Toronto International Film Festival with Wilson Morales of Blackfilm.com and we'll have entertainment news and reviews of the latest films, including The Drop on Episode 262 of Keeping It Reel with FilmGordon.
