Dr. Meganne Masko joins me to discuss music therapy research in the Journal of Music Therapy, Spring 2015, Volume 52, Number 1. We'll discuss our impressions of the research and how we apply each article to our work as board certified music therapists.
We see a lot of strange things in the summertime. You never know what you're gonna get on a daily basis while you're driving, riding public transportation, walking, sitting on your porch or steps, shopping, looking out of your window or whatever. The summertime does crazy things to people. It' makes some people act out. When you think about it, you've probably seen the wildest things ever during the warm weather months. So, what have you seen this year? How about last year?
This is a call in show.
You are encouraged to share anything crazy that you've seen this summer. Nothing is too wild, ratchet, ghetto, unbelievable, ridiculous or just plain wrong.
I know that personally, I don't have to leave my street. I have pictures! They give me a show every single day! Wait until I share my stories. Share yours as well and let's have some fun on this show.
There may be drugs involved. In fact I know there will be.

So why do you think horse therapy helps with lets say ....PTSD? You would have to understand where PTSD comes from and what this sort of therapy is doing at the hormonal level. So tune in to find out what would really help not only vets but I what I term the "Great American Melt Down"!

GAY CONVERSION THERAPY – REALLY?
In case you never heard of it, some people think they can convert gays, especially young people, into heterosexuals by using a type of “therapy.” Really! Of course this assumes that being gay is like a bad habit or mental illness that can be cured. So what is this all about, does it help, does it hurt, and what are we doing about it?
Oregon is one state among several that recently passed a law prohibiting conversion therapy, and other states are considering such bans.
Samantha Ames is an attorney with the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) knows about conversion, what it’s supposed to do and what it really does. She’s served as a Policy Fellow in Washington, D.C. before moving to San Francisco to work as a staff attorney focusing on conversion therapy cases. She has testified on the harms of conversion therapy and the constitutionality of efforts to end it before both state and federal bodies, as well as at the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva, Switzerland.
Please join us to learn more about conversion and the hype around it.
Call-in to share your opinions and questions at (646) 378-0430.
