    Pride Celebrating Equality for All

    in LGBT

Join us as we celebrate 37 years of Pride Festival history.  South Florida's Lesbian, Gay Bi-Sexual, Transexual Community (LGBT)  has a proud and colorful history of advocating for the rights of the community.

Reading from the Pride South Florida program:

The Pride Festival commemorates the Stonewall riots that occured in New York City in June 1969 which many credit with having launched the national movement for LGBT rights.

Recently released U.S. Census data revealed that Fort Lauderdale is the city with the highest concentration of same-sex couples households in the nation; and the greater Fort Lauderdale area annually welcomes more than 1.3 million LGBT visitors.

Our First guest Norm Kent, Publisher of South Florida Gay News (SFGN) was a successful attorney and advocate for many years defending gay men who were falsely accused of breaking Florida 's lewd and lascivious laws.  Many remember him from his morning radio show on AM WFTL-1400 and 850 AM radio.  He started the Gay news paper Express in 1999 and in 2003 began South Florida Gay News (SFGN).  The newpaper has a very successful reputation in the community and the nation. We will also later welcome Elizabeth Fernandez from Human Rights Campaign.

Let's learn together how we can make this community and all communities safe and prosperous for all.

It will have a dramatic influence on our state being able to attract new business and tourist, as well as creating a better state for our children to live in. Our special guest will be Patrick Scarborough. He is the Former  Vice Chair of the Equality Alabama Board. Mr. Scarborough is a native of Alabama having grown up in Dothan. Fergusons of America, Ferguson, MO is Positioned to Usher in Equality for All

    in Politics

This is the time to decide to make changes for a better America. Ask yourself today:

Do you think America is where it should be? Why do you think this?

What kind of America is it you see?

What is it you think Americans need to do for that nation to come into being?

My belief is we have everything we need for a model nation, except for the passion and behaviour.

We have people with specific roles in America. We have individuals who are called to be heros. People who are paid tax payers dollars to deliver goods and services. People who are paid tax payers dollars to protect and serve. People who are exempted from paying tax payers dollars because they serve America in a manner that benefits the greater good. People who are admonished to prevent the oppression of the poor. People who work in times of disasters man made and natural disasters. People who creatively teach us to build and create. People who stand between US citizens and enemies of other lands who will do us harm. People who learn for the purpose to protect our health, many times putting their own lives on the line. All these people live in the Fergusons of America and today they are positioned to usher in equality for all.

    does equality have its limits?

    in Lifestyle

    "THE INNERMIX SHOW"
    Life, Love, & Relationships
    347-857-1344

    Host: Simply D & Jules

On tonight's show we ask the question is equality simply a black and white thing? We often talk about it but is it a social reality? when it comes to quality  how far have we really come?  And what about gender equality we often hear about how women deserve to make the same amount of money and have the same respect that men get for similar jobs but what happens when you flip the situation around? what do you think about the dad who becomes a homemaker ... By choice?

LH #203: Marriage Equality & Political Mishaps

    in LGBT

On Sunday 25 January 2015 Corwin and Phil talked marriage equality and political mishaps. Particularly the marriage equality case in Nebraska. As of the time this show went live it looked like the judge scheduled to hear the case had postponed the hearing pending the ruling from SCOTUS on similar cases before them this session. Phil has since learned that it was merely a postponement of a hearing to allow same sex marriage in Nebraska pending his final decision. That hearing has been rescheduled and Corwin and Phil will be talking more about that on 1 February.

Lavender Hill airs live every Sunday morning at 11am Central. Approaching four years on the air, Lavender Hill is Nebraska's only LGBTQIAA news and talk program on community radio. Thanks to the continued support of KZUM and listeners, Lavender Hill will be celebrating the four year anniversary the same time that KZUM celebrates 37 years on the airwaves!

You can find Lavender Hill on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
