Ms. Laws is an original lead cast member and co-writer of the highly successful Tony-nominated play It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues, which had its world premiere at the Denver Center Theatre Company. Opening on Broadway with great bravado at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theatre, it garnered four Tony nominations, and Ms. Laws received a Drama Desk Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She also received a coveted Helen Hayes Nomination for her performance at the Kennedy Center, and she continues to receive critical acclaim performing with The Blues cross-country.
Eloise Gomez Reyes spent her life fighting for families in the Inland Empire which is was of Los Angeles (Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario area). She was born and raised in Colton, California. She worked her way through San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Southern California. She earned her law degree from the Loyola Law School and returned to Colton. There she became the first Latina to open her own law office in the Inland Empire. In addition to representing her clients, Eloise donates her time to multiple charitable community organizations. Growing up in a working class family, Eloise saw her parents struggle to make ends meet. Her father at one time worked in the coal mines in New Mexico and moved to California. When Eloise was 12, she began working summers in the agricultural fields as an onion topper along with her mother and brothers in order to earn money to buy school clothes. Currently, she is running for Congress in the 31st district which is suffering from the same financial instability her family felt.

Eloise Laws In the 1970s, she began recording for Holland-Dozier-Holland's Music Merchant and later Invictus labels. label. Her first album, Ain't It Good Feeling Good was released on Invictus in 1977. Unfortunately, the labels folded and Laws released the LP Eloise (ABC) later the same year and Eloise Laws (Liberty) in 1980, both of which featured the songwriting and producing talents of Linda Creed.
The multi-talented artist just completed her debut book, “Comediennes: Laugh be a Lady” due in the fall of 2012. It was co-written with her partner, Darryl Littleton and will be released by Hal Leonard Publications. It covers the entire history of female comedy. So it’s a subject Tuezdae not only documents, but adds to as well.
