Esther Thane, MTA, AVPT, is the Director of Special Education for Mundo Pato, Inc. and is my guest today to talk about Electronic Medical Records for Therapy Practices.
Joyce and Mike speak with Dr. Joshua Seidman about the concept of "Meaningful Use" in healthcare and how it can be used along with electronic health records (EHR) to improve patient care.
Dr. Seidman is Vice President in charge of Payment and Delivery Reform at Avalere Health. He is also the Immediate Past President of the Society for Participatory Medicine.
Previouslyt, Seidman was the Director of Meaningful Use at the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology within the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. At ONC, Dr. Seidman guided development of resources that helped providers become meaningful users of HIT, and helped to evolve meaningful use practice and policy. During nearly two decades in health care, Seidman has focused on: quality measurement and improvement; the intersection of e-health and health services research; and structuring consumer e-health interventions to support improved health behaviors and informed decision making.
Before that, Seidman was the founding President of the Center for Information Therapy, which advanced the practice and science of delivering tailored information to consumers to help them make better health decisions and lead healthier lives. At the IxCenter, Seidman focused on stimulating innovation, diffusing best practices, and evangelizing for a patient-centered orientation to implementation of HIT applications.

Many people receive all sorts of electronic gadgets as gifts. In today's world, is it possible to avoid technology? We use it to make our coffee ,text messages to friends, microwave food and work on laptops. We're being zapped! Today 84 % of Americans own a cell phone, 89 million of us watch TV beamed in by satellite and we can't sip a cup of coffee at our local cafe without being exposed to Wi-Fi. The very electronic innovations that have changed our lives are also exposing us, in ways big and small, to an unprecedented number of electromagnetic fields. Invisible pollution surrounds us 24/7, interrupting our bodies' natural flow of energy. And for some, that pollution has reached the point of toxicity, causing fatigue, irritability, weakness, and even illness. But we don't have to simply surrender. Ann Louise Gittleman brings forth the latest research into electromagnetic fields to create this groundbreaking guide for every citizen of the wireless age. With the proactive, levelheaded approach that has made her one of our most respected health experts, she not only clarifies the risks but also offers specific, step-by-step information for how anyone can minimize them. From where you place your sofa to when you use your cell phone to what you eat for dinner.

On December 3, 12-year-old Ronin Shimizu, a former 6th grader enrolled at Folsom Middle School, committed suicide after schoolmates had bullied him for being a cheerleader.
According to the CDC, suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year.
Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University.
A study in Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying
10 to 14 year old girls may be at even higher risk for suicide, according to the study above
According to statistics reported by ABC News, nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying, and 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying
Anonymous Alerts® is a tool which enables students to quickly report bullying, cyberbullying, depression, family problems, drug and alcohol abuse, gang-related issues, sexual harassment, guns/weapons in schools, theft/vandalism or unusual student behavior which may warrant immediate attention by school officials. The system is simple and secure for students and school officials.

Tonight Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes Indie-Electronic Singer Deja-Mae to the show.
Free Mp3 Single Download via Soundcloud:
Deja was practically born to be a performer. The daughter of Norman Howell, a well-established stunt man/coordinator/director and stunt double for Kevin Costner, Deja traveled from location to location growing up, so it’s no wonder that she thinks of a movie set as “home.” As a little girl, Deja fell in love with the idea of performing. It would be the film “Dances with Wolves” where Deja would get her first taste of performing. She continued to participate in the ‘family business’ throughout her adolescence, but soon realized that stunts were not enough, as the life of an actress brought conflicted emotions. Having grown up on movie sets, she understands the life of an actor can be isolating, unfulfilling and unpredictable at times. With a longing to touch people’s lives through performing, it makes sense that Deja has branched out into other areas of creativity, such as music.
Deja has made sure to keep music a large part of her life, which earned a residency at Hollywood’s Bar Lubitsch. Deja not only sings, but she also plays acoustic guitar and piano.

Should men tell women how they should feel about street harassment? Shoshana B Roberts was filmed walking the streets of New York City, enduring unsolicited catcalls in the course of a single day. There are so many issues with this story. Why did they edit out everyone except Black and Latino men? Where in NY was she walking? Did her outfit have anything to do with the catcalls? If women aren't dressed appropriately, are they asking for attention? Can you even call that harassment? Is this more about classism than it is about sexism?
We will ::ANSWER:: these questions and more on this episode of the ::ANSWERS:: show — with Joe Paul, A.J. Miller, Arkay Evans and Jackson Bracey.
Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio as Cecile Bereal your host of Serving Up Diversity, interviews Chris Olmsted, Shareholder/Employment Law and Litigation at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC.
Today we will ask Chris about employment discrimination and harassment.
