THIS WEEK’S MESSAGE:
Most of us think of love as the wonderful experience of feeling connected. But, have you ever been in a relationship where you felt it was the other person’s responsibility to make you happy, to meet all of your needs, to understand you and know what you want without asking? Or have you been on the other side of this scenario? You were the partner expected to fulfill the other person and manage their happiness. Either situation is perpetually frustrating and not the "connection" you envisioned when your first met your partner. Is it possible to learn to connect learn how to find and create loving connections in life? Is there a recipe? Can you learn to connect in a disconnected world?

Author Susan Anderson tells you why on today's show as she shares how to tame the outer child and heal from self-sabotage and abandonment. She'll explain that the outer child is a part of your personality that acts out the inner child's feelings in self-defeating ways. Every time I hear a parent brag that her child is her best friend, I cringe and think, “Well, that’s too bad.” The job description of parent is mighty long—nurturer, teacher, advisor, consultant, guide, spotter, disciplinarian, consoler, cheerleader. But I am quite sure “friend” is not on the list. I fully believe that you really like your child, that there are times when you get along like peas and carrots, that you say you can read each other’s minds. But your child, whether young or old, needs you to be her parent. She has enough friends, and so do you. I know that you don’t get to spend much time with your child; both of your schedules are packed 24/7. So you want what little time you have together to be pleasant. I know it’s just easier to say yes, and everyone will be happy…for the moment.
Children are not like self-basting turkeys; they just can’t grow themselves. Children will seek all the good stuff they can get—be it extra tv time, cookies from the platter, or minutes at the mall. And they count on you to stop them, to rein them back in. It is their job to test the limits; it is your job to stop them. And as children get older, more than ever they rely on you to be their brakes, especially when faced with peer pressure. “No, my dad will kill me if I get home after curfew.” Your child needs to know that you love her so much that you will tolerate her explosive protest when you lay down the law and you will not change your mind because of it. Nothing can be more important to you than her well being, her safety, and her learning the rules of the road.

WHY DON’T BOY SCOUTS SELL COOKIES? THINK ABOUT THAT!!
Ever since we can remember, the girl scouts have always sold cookies and the boy scouts did not.

Tune into the show and share your thoughts with me. We are officially entering our 2nd year in radio with a new line-up, a new format, and new segments. As the host, I’m going to share with you

It's nothing personal really, I just don't like the lot of you because something in my head tells me that you are all bags of human shit. when I think about it I would trade the lot of your lives to bring back Giggles cookies, remember them? Those were tasty, anyway, I'm talking mass ritualistic sacrifice, like have you all disembowled at an alter to Nabisco and a big giant stone Giggle cookie, man those things were good, you on the other hand never were "good", but boy oh boy, those cookies let me tell you something there!
