Retiring from Horror/Sci-Fi. Those changes in life. #77

    in Entertainment

Upon finding out that I have to go in for not one but two possible surgeries involving hospital stay/anesthesia, ..countless of ER visits and countless of tests in the past month, combined with year long drama over subject matters that would even make high-school dropouts seem like geniuses in comparison, I have decided to retire from horror/sci-fi, and pursuing any serious work at least in that part of the industry. I will go elsewhere where I am maybe more appreciated. I still love many people on my pages, I will be in the scene, post, etc, but I also refuse to do shows on blogtalk, that have my haters listen into/talk about/gossip behind my back, and make things even more complicated than they need to be, even when it's not about them. This "keeping tabs bit." Enough.

The last straw was when i decided to reach out to people privately thinking I could help them or care about them, and they posted my messages all over and laughed about it.  Aside from one small name drop which I agree I shouldn't have done (though it was still private nevertheless), it proved to me how unfortunately, many people in horror and sci fi to a piont are angry, dramatic, high-school (and below) behaving haters and assholes.

I am also a grown man with another birthday approaching, and was originally going to 'retire' on new year's to celebrate 5-6 years of guesting/doing podcasts, which has then been pushed back to Halloween.  Now, due to my health issues, I cannot handle doing podcasts anymore, at least hosting them for the time being, AND I'm not a young kid anymore. As a grown, mature man, I have to make decisions, and one of them is do do something more serious and being around people you love. Sadly that isn't always the case, and hasn't been here.

Your Children Can Excel In Science, Technology, Engineering and Math!

    in Women

Ignore the propaganda about today's children in America's urban communities being lazy dropouts that only want tofight and sell drugs. It's not a bit true, and for those who worked with young people this summer, they discovered an enthusiastic group of youth who are excited about science, technology, engineering and math! Lauren Ward, author of The 6 Step Plan: Rising To Greatness To Fulfill Your Destiny, worked with students in the PUSH Excel STEM Program thjis summer, teaching them how to master the new media technology. A recent  graduate of Howard University, she recognized that many youth have a burning desire to excel, and merely needed the opportunity to learn. It is our responsibility as parents to cultivate the natural genius in our children, and to ignore the propaganda that others continue to spread, making excuses as to why urban schools are underfunded and undersupported. We can turn our homes into institutions of higher learning. We can give our children a different vision of their future; we can teach them that they are here to take over and change the world that others have destroyed, by discovering new ways to produce fuel, travel, grow food, and communicate. We can instill in our children the reality that the word is falling apart so that they can rebuild it the way it should be - with fairness, justice, and respect for all. Lauren Ward give tips on how to motivate youth to strive for their highest potential.

Managing Student Loans as the CEO of Me, Inc.

    in Jobs

With more than $1 trillion in student loans outstanding in this country, crippling debt is no longer confined to dropouts from for-profit colleges or graduate students who owe on many years of education, some of the overextended debtors in years past. As prices soar, a college degree statistically remains a good lifetime investment, but it often comes with an unprecedented financial burden.

Caitlin Kovalkoski, Director of Bank Community Engagement will be our guest tonight to discuss options for students and parents as they manage their Me, Inc. Enterprises effectively.

SwCA Ep. 129: I went to school, but never finished! How can I use the education

    in Business

SHOW NOTES: This episode is, “I went to school…but I never finished! How can I use the education that I currently have?”

The short “answer,” you can’t. You need to go back and complete school. The value in a credential is in obtaining the credential. Now that we have answered what to do (go back to school), the next step for you to determine is how (what school, when, etc.)!

    Why?

Educational attainment in the United States, Age 25 and Over (2013)
    Education    Percentage
    High school graduate    88.15%
    Some college    58.33%
    Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree    41.50%
    Bachelor's degree    31.66%
    Master's and/or Doctorate and/or professional degree    11.57%
    Doctorate and/or professional degree    3.16%
    Doctorate    1.68%

    https://www.census.gov/hhes/socdemo/education/data/cps/2013/tables.html

“Persons with doctorates in the United States had an average income of roughly $81,400. The average for an advanced degree was $72,824 with men averaging $90,761 and women averaging $50,756 annually. Year-round full-time workers with a professional degree had an average income of $109,600 while those with a Master's degree had an average income of $62,300. Overall, "…[a]verage earnings ranged from $18,900 for high school dropouts to $25,900 for high school graduates, $45,400 for college graduates and $99,300 for workers with professional degrees (M.D., D.P.T., D.P.M., D.O., J.D., Pharm.D., D.D.S., or D.V.M.).” http://www.census.gov/prod/2002pubs/p23-210.pdf

So, start working on the plan to go back and complete school! Now!

The NTuned Show Welcomes Klasik and Pyrme New Segment CSoM

    in Culture

The Cholocate State of Mind (CSoM) is a liberation movement geared to help African Americans put the pieces of history back together and illuminate the road ahead. CSoM seeks to help bridge the gap between African Americans that have been engineered, by (un)engineering  the mental wars within their information to see the wars waged upon its own. CSoM is a race positive organization established to help nourish and nurture its many blossoming flowers within its culture. It is no secret that African American people are the highest in number, in all things negative within this today's society. This means that we are amongst the lowest level as it relates to anything positive within that same category. This is directly related to the number of individuals that are currently incarcerated amongst our people. Studies have shown how the rate of African Americans continues to grow at an alarming rate with regards to diseases, illiteracy, and high school dropouts. And the list goes on and on....

The aspirations of CSoM, the Chocolate State of Mind movement, is to truly give back to its people, their "Information". Bridging the gap through unity for organizations and commonality!

SISFI's Youth Emotional Wellness Summit - Bronx

    in Lifestyle

SISFI in association with St. Barnabas Hospital Teen Center invites you to our "Youth Emotional Wellness Summit” on Wednesday, April 16th 2014, 1-4pm at the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, 543 E. 189th St, Bronx, NY, 10458 to focus on the mental, emotional, spiritual and sociological challenges and impacts of life, parenting, the education system, abuse, peer pressure, substance abuse, gangs, relationships, human trafficking, sexuality, isolation, poverty, lost identity affecting our youth that are forcing them into uncomfortable positions to make serious life choices and sometimes they don't have anyone to guide them or talk with about it. We’re giving them a platform to share, discuss, speak out on what’s truly in their hearts and on their minds so we can understand and help to guide them more effectively. We must understand human behavior and its relevance today before we can truly address the mental and emotional challenges plaguing our communities and people.

We hear about their challenges after they do something "bad" or get into trouble, but that's because we don't see, understand or focus on emotional wellness challenges and needs until after the fact. With suicide attempts and ideations, gun violence, gang initiations, early parenthood, school dropouts and health risks increasing in our youth, we cannot deny the seriousness of the issues and how they permeate our communities. Still, unchecked, we are afraid to face the issues as a whole and still look at them as isolated rather than recognize the need to go back to the source and root cause of the end results. We must come together to listen to them in order to effectively address these issues holistically or we will always be cleaning up and responding to the end results of violence, exploitation, loss of life and incarceration.

The Summit features youth guest speakers addressing important topics through their words and eyes.
