Gospel pioneer Sallie Martin once said, “I’ve never been the greatest, nobody ever called me the greatest; yet, still I’ve been everywhere the greatest have been…” These words could have easily been spoken by Nashville’s own, Everett M. Drake, as he, too, has shared the stage with many of the music industry’s greatest luminaries.
Like so many entertainers, Everett’s musical roots began in the church, singing in the choir and later serving as Choir Director of his beloved First Baptist Church South Inglewood. His dynamic passion for singing and directing were soon recognized by other gospel singers and he was tapped to join The Johnson Ensemble, a local singing group. They were enormously popular during the 1970s and recorded several albums. Their signature album, “The Harvest Is Plentiful” brought them national recognition.
As an artist Natasha Gray aims to keep the integrity of our rich Gospel Legacy and great songwriting. Liquid Prayers is an amazing song written by the Gospel Industry’s “Girl Director”, Natalie Wilson. Produced byNatasha’s husband, Rodrick Cliché. [Co-Writer and Producer of Dorinda Clark Cole’s newest single, “Bless This House”] Through warm vocals over this vintage gospel musicianship, very reminiscent of early 80’sAndrae Crouch songs, Natasha ministers to our hearts. This heartfelt message tells us, while we may not always have the words to speak, God understands. Your listeners will definitely connect with this inspirational song!

"We need to develop the leadership ability to teach our people not only what to do, but how to think." Linda Drake, this week's guest on Jumping the Gap, talks about overcoming mindset limitations in order to build a company in the multi-million dollar levels of success. As Chief Pathfinder and Founder of Trailblazer Advisors, Linda brings insight to opportunities in the business environment by coaching for entrepreneurial and team success.
What were some of the things that worked well for her? And how can you, as an entrepreneur, apply these as well to achieve your business goals for 2015? Linda shares three important tips:
Check in on your passion: how do we stay congruent with our own personal self as well as congruent with our drive for the business?
Expand yourself: expose yourself to ideas, technology and people that will help you grow in vision, insight and capacity.
Be prepared for change: how do we get ahead of the power curve on change?
Linda drives home the point further on the power of teaching and transforming the way one thinks: "We get so caught up in our own myopic thoughts. The more we can expose ourselves to the bigger ideas, to the alternative ideas . . . the alternative we have does more for our resilience and our ability to create our character, improve our leadership and really help our employees in our company."
