Dr. Sandra Steingraber: Living Downstream
Imagine your life at twenty years old. Now imagine it with cancer. This was the bewildering situation Dr. Sandra Steingraber faced as a college student. However, instead of allowing the diagnosis to devastate her, she went on a mission to gather as many answers as she could as to why she and other members of her adoptive family had developed cancer in the first place. She was determined to find out what really needs to change in order to prevent other people from going through what she had.
Living Downstream An Ecologist’s Personal investigation of Cancer and the Environment, takes a very close look at the actual relationship that cancer has in conjunction to the environment, genetics and lifestyle as a combination. Dr. Steingraber shares her own personal story of being a bladder cancer survivor and addresses the scientific findings that have emerged in the dozen or so years since the book’s original publication—including the role of endocrine disruption, chemical mixtures, prenatal exposures, and epigenetics. She also shows how developments in green energy will benefit not only the environment but human health.
In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Dr.Sandra Steingraber about her story and how people can empower themselves to bring about change.

Sandra Goddley
Born in Bristol, UK, of Jamaican parents, Sandra grew up listening to the likes of Aretha Franklin, Amy Grant, Jessy Dixon, Andrae Crouch and Anita Baker. Her earliest memories of singing and songwriting were when she as 12 years old, performing at many conferences, festivals and fronting 2 bands. Sandra came out of these experiences stronger and prepared for her own solo career.
Her classy, refined vocals have been compared to Desiree, Anita Baker and Sade. In Sandra Godley, we see the embodiment of all the things in a diva we hold dear. Beautiful, yet somehow humble, Sandra Godley is so wonderfully talented that she has evolved from being just a singer/songwriter, to being a stylish, multi-genre songstress.
Easily adapting to all of contemporary black music’s offerings, Godley has performed funk, disco, house, soul, and R & B effortlessly.
By herself, Sandra Godley has evolved from the embodiment of the dance-diva to an elegant songstress. Always creative and spontaneous, Godley’s use of power house vocals in conjunction with the ability of holding an audience spellbound as she solos with an acoustic guitar, has taken black music to higher levels. Sandra has performed on many television and radio networks including BBC, Sky and God TV.
With 2 (largely self-penned) albums already under her belt, Sandra’s passion as a singer, songwriter, gifted communicator and entertainer is contagious to anyone who meets her. In 2005
Sweet Surrender demonstrates a variety of influences, showcasing the depth and flexibility of her abilities to include 11 tracks with a variety of styles including a twist of R & B, disco, church, and soul where she undoubtedly brings her signature energetic powerhouse vocals with an abundance of love and encouragement.

Dr. Sandra Steingraber: What You Need To Know About Fracking
As we rapidly run out of precious fossil fuels, there is a huge demand to explore other options as quickly as possible, especially due to the increasing cost of energy. There is a highly controversial debate about a process called hydrofracking. It is a method of extracting natural gas from shale. This is especially a heated topic in Upstate, New York, the home of the Catskill Mountains. This natural gas which is embedded deep underground beneath Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Ohio is said to be enough to supply the East Coast for up to 50 years. So why can’t we just go along and drill, baby, drill? There are a myriad of reasons, especially one main reason, potential ground water contamination. This would not only pollute drinking water but the thousands of eco systems dependent upon the drinking water. However, there are others that feel that the verdict is still out and before the actual facts are in, we should explore it regardless.
In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to Dr. Sandra Steingraber about what you need to know about fracking.

Patrick's Friday Night Review with Dr Sandra O Connell
8:30 PM Eastern Time Zone Patrick's Friday y Night Review with Dr. Sandra O' Connell Sandra O’Connell (Mrs. Ralph L. Minker) is the author of An American Family in World War II, (Minker, O’Connell, and Butowsky). The book is based on the unique collection of 800 letters that the five members of the Minker family exchanged during World War II when Ralph Lee Minker left for pilot training in early 1943. The letters continued as he flew 37 combat missions over Germany as one of the youngest command pilots of a B-17 for the Eighth Air Force. This correspondence between a soldier and his entire family is the only known collection of its kind to survive the war. From basic training Minker asked his mother to save his letters "as they are taking the place of a diary." In an unusual move he shipped all of the family letters back home as he left each base, even from combat in England. Their correspondence creates a complete conversation of life in America and England; Ralph, his two teenage sisters and mother and dad write in detail about those perilous times. He returned home in September, 1945; a veteran of two tours of duty and a captain wearing the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters -- barely 21 years old. The box of letters along with a scrapbook of photos was discovered by Minker in the early 1990's. An American Family in World War II won the silver medal for biography from the Military Writers Society of America in 2010.

Interview with Sandra Bornstein
Based on a private journal, memories, and a blog that chronicled her adventure to India, Sandra Bornstein wrote May This Be the Best Year of Your Life to serve as a resource and guide to help others overcome the challenges of living outside their comfort zone. When her husband accepted a job that required extensive international travel, the author was living her version of the American dream in Colorado, never imagining she would be faced with several dilemmas that left her feeling uncertain. After a series of events, she found herself in a life altering experience that placed her alone in a three-hundred-square-foot dorm room while teaching at a renowned international boarding school in Bangalore. This compelling, honest, and edifying memoir shares everything she learned about perseverance, travel, education, faith, and family. Had Sandra never resided in India, she would have missed out on an experience that ultimately enhanced her resiliency, confidence, and passion for life. Show more Show less
