Are you aware of all that distracts you from acheiving what you say you desire? Whilst the new year is still fresh, let's take a practical and real look at being alert to all that can distract us and look at the plausibility of multitasking and how this is processed by the brain.

Are You Focused or Distracted? How to Master the Only 2 States of Mind You’re Ever in…
Do you ever stop to think about… what you’re thinking about?
What do you think most of your thoughts concern: Yourself? Others? An ever-alternating mix of the two?
Our minds are like little machines that never stop running. So we get used to the continual purring of the motor, virtually NEVER even realizing what it’s producing… or considering that we can affect the product.
So I’ll ask you to consider this: How much of your thought do you think is centered oncontrol?
This week my guest is Terry Matlen MSW, author of The Queen of Distraction: How Women with ADHD Can Conquer Chaos, Find Focus, and Get More Done.
Do you rule the realm of disorganization, clutter, and chaos? Are you constantly battling to get things done? Are you ready to give up and toss your day planner into the dungeon (otherwise known as your closet)? If so, you might just be The Queen of Distraction. And whether or not you’ve been formally diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), you probably already know that something’s got to give.
The Queen of Distraction presents practical skills to help women with ADHD achieve focus and balance in all areas of life, whether it’s at home, at work, or in relationships. Psychotherapist Terry Matlen delves into the feminine side of ADHD—the elements of this condition that are particular to women, such as: relationships, skin sensitivities, meal-planning, parenting, and dealing with out-of-control hormones. In addition, the book offers helpful tips and strategies to get your symptoms under control, and outlines a number of effective treatment options for you to pursue.
From getting dressed in the morning, to making it to a job interview, to planning dinner—sometimes just getting through the day can be an ordeal for a woman with ADHD. If you’ve been accused of getting lost in your own world, maybe it’s time to make a change. If you’re ready to start getting organized and stop leaving your groceries in the car, this book can help. It’s more than just a survival guide; it’s an ADHD how-to to help you thrive!
About the author:

NBPP - MARCH 23, 2015 - THE WEAPONS OF DISTRACTION & PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE
In this episode pediatric Laura Mize, M.S, CCC-SLP of teachmetotalk.com answers a variety of questions from SLPs and parents. We'll talk about how I write goals for toddlers and young preschoolers for speech therapy, what it means when a toddler is fatigued during therapy (it may not be what you think!), and why DISTRACTION is one of the most powerful tools you can use when working with our little friends. If we have time, we'll even tackle a mom's questions about handling her toddler's language regression since the arrival of a new baby. All that and maybe even a little more on this week's show!!
Often we become distracted by allowing ourselves to be overstimulated or "sensitive" words spoken and things that are insignificant and irrelevant. When this happens we loose our ability to focus, on the things that ar important, becoming more vunerable to "feelings of guilt" and losing sight of VICTORY !
